'85 K5 Turbo Diesel

Oooooohhhhhh!!!!! Bow or rifle????

Rifle. I haven't even been able to scout out the area because I have been so busy with the blazer, but I think I just have to plan on taking my 4runner up there so I can get ready for the hunt last minute. Hopefully I can the blazer ready to tow my trailer to Dumont the weekend before Halloween.

Well looks like due to the wife's unwillingness to use the Blazer while I am out hunting, I have to bust ass and get the Blazer ready to drive up hunting by October 4th. I am coming up with a list of necessities on it today and have to start knocking them out. I also need to pick up a spare rim and tire and hi lift before then, too bad my bumper wont be ready with the mounts for them. Thinking of picking this up this weekend http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/pts/3270354072.html Seem worth it?

I wnt to get a deer tag in Nevada too! Just too busy right now.:doah: i think old tools are the best! Go for it! :thumb:

I think I may just going to order a 60" hi lift, worried the 48" might not cut it. Then I probably need a big bottle jack in case I need to change a tire, and a new pro comp steel wheel and new Goodyear Durtrak for the spare.

In the engine compartment I need to finish hooking up my airbox how I want, bolt down my batteries, hook up the EGT gauge, hook up my tranny temp gauge, fix my coolant temp gauge, put on new oil cooler lines, change the oil, wrap my crossover pipe in header wrap and put on a new axle breather tube since my new crossover pipe melted it a bit.

Then I need to mount in at least the front seats, weld up the crack in my tranny crossover and put on my new poly tranny mount, fix my tailgate window which suddenly stopped working, possibly get my offroad lightbar bolted up and working, fix my broken rear driver side shock mount, and possibly put in a new dash speaker to make the trip a little nicer.

All finished by the night of October 3.

Didn't get a chance to really do anything on it this weekend, but I did pull out of old light bar. There is some surface rust on the lights so I have to paint them before I mount it up.

I haven't had much time to work on it but I did get my AC up and going. I couldn't get the compressor on the new engine to seal up tight with my hoses, so I had to pull the compressor off my old engine and use it, good thing it hasn't sold yet. Then I cut back the 90 coming off of my turbo to get it to fit in there better without kinking it at all. I rattle can primered the spots in the floor that I had grinded down to bare metal because it was starting to get a little bit of surface rust on it.

Then Tuesday when I was driving it home I started getting a weird vibration through the accelerator pedal. It kind of felt like something was hitting the gas pedal. Didn't do it when I wasn't on the throttle at all, didn't do it when I got on it more. It doesn't do it when I am neutral or park. It got progressively worse on my 22 mile drive home. Drove it to work today and it did it again, but a little worse. Every once in a while I could hear a little bit of a grinding I think, but its hard to tell over the engine. I am thinking it may be something with my power steering pump or steering box. I'll be investigating after work, hopefully I can find the problem and hopefully its cheap and easy to fix.

I got lucky with that weird vibration and grinding noise. The compressor bracket was a little further over with the compressor off my old engine and it was riding right up against the master cylinder reservoir. A little bit of grinder work and problem was solved, easiest thing I have fixed on this truck.:D

Then we undid my downpipe and slipped in the new gasket and called it a night.

Well I have not been able to really do anything to it lately. I have been busy getting and processing this guy.

I have to start back up on it this week though, trying to get it ready to pull my trailer to Dumont by next Thursday.

Sweet, looks like fun man!

Did u get an elec pump for your turbo, or are you still running the mech lift pump?

I had to go with an electric pump because my cross pipe was too close to the fuel lines on the electric one. The motor came setup with an electric one though.

Looks like my little mudding exerience took its toll. I noticed ATF on my front driveshaft this weekend. Last night we pulled everything apart to replace the seal and the shaft has a nice groove in it. Now I have to try and find a new one locally today so I can get it all put back together.
