We've knocked some more off the list and added some more back here and there. Ya know, the whole finishing thing.
Tachometer hook up is underway. We're going with the "w" terminal in the alternator. After alot of research, and coming up with nothing on purchasing an alternator with the "W" terminal, this is what we came up with.
Back side of the new alternator. Basically a tin cover onthe back side. That needs to be removed.
Cover removed,
New wire on the stator which from what I understand is the "W" termial. A ring terminal and double heat shrinked for the connection.
The cover that was removed needs a clearance hole for the wire to come through. We just drilled a 5/16" hole for the wire.
We went with the 5/16" hole so that with the 3/8" loom on the wire, the loom will be held in place by the edge of the hole itself preventing the wire from coming in contact with the cover and eventually chafing through the insulation.
Lastly, a weather pack connection for easy removal.
From here, we'll take that wire and feed a signal converter from Dakota digital which will send it on to the tachometer.
