'85 on big tars.(pics & video)

I have an ARB solenoid with BPT, drove me nuts as it's almost NPT, but just enough off in thread density to not fit. McMaster at least had fittings to adapt them to NPT.

Whatcha doing that uses metric line?

The ARB line is 5mm. Doing the same thing you were doing. Ordered the adapter fittings to get it back to regular NPT but haven't arrived yet.

We've knocked some more off the list and added some more back here and there. Ya know, the whole finishing thing.

Tachometer hook up is underway. We're going with the "w" terminal in the alternator. After alot of research, and coming up with nothing on purchasing an alternator with the "W" terminal, this is what we came up with.

Back side of the new alternator. Basically a tin cover onthe back side. That needs to be removed.

Cover removed,

New wire on the stator which from what I understand is the "W" termial. A ring terminal and double heat shrinked for the connection.

The cover that was removed needs a clearance hole for the wire to come through. We just drilled a 5/16" hole for the wire.

We went with the 5/16" hole so that with the 3/8" loom on the wire, the loom will be held in place by the edge of the hole itself preventing the wire from coming in contact with the cover and eventually chafing through the insulation.

Lastly, a weather pack connection for easy removal.

From here, we'll take that wire and feed a signal converter from Dakota digital which will send it on to the tachometer.

Been meaning to post some shots of the air compressor. This is a viair unit I believe. Built a new box for it and kept everything quick disconnect for moving to other vehicles.

That was a good option to check on the order sheet Brett!

How are yall thinking the 1 tons are going to hold up with the 49s? Reason I ask is a oppertunity has set its self in my lap to get a set but I dont want to upgrade to rocks. I know I have the gearing but im worried about the axles.

Aftermarket chromo shafts in the 60. Drive flanges. Only time will tell.

Worked on the door skins today as well as some experimentation with the hood.

As of now, we're going to reduce the height of the "hot box" for the hood. 2" probably. Possibly more than that in the front. Little to drag racy right now.

For some reason, our alternator is kicking out 26-29 volts depending on the regulator we are using. I think something is wrong with our wiring. We've tried two different alternators and 3 different regulators. Nothing is working so far. I wired it up the way it was diagramed in a link Zimmer posted previously in this thread. Somethin' just aint right.

One more down.

Very close to being done. I'm sure the list could be updated with alot of tiny stuff but not real necessary. Always hitting some of those along the way.

The hot box?
Will it be a functional air intake then?
I dont know about the alt output Kert hopefully a Cummins expert will chime in on that

I bet you all thought we quit on this one.

Nope, we're still finishing up some things.

Front drive shaft is done. We have the hot box done up and about to get that mounted.

The to do list has gotten very short.

Alternator issues (hope to have this resolved tomorrow.)

what was the resolution?

You have to have the charge cable connected. We took a voltage reading before connecting it to the system. At that time it read 29 volts on the output cable. That being the case, we were a bit hesitant to hook up the cable. Today I disconnected all the sensitive electronic equipment and hooked it up and took a new reading. Now its at 14.7 volts.

I'm just not to familiar with the dodge charging system so learning as we go. I'd rather be cautious and not fry a bunch of gauges.
