'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Those 2 stickers I wanted on the truck at all times. Even when the top was off, I wanted to make sure the sweet schat was known and always present.

Damage report from Tuttle Creek last Saturday:

Left fender damage. Couldn't tell you what happened there :haha:

Right fender was from a trail called north fence. Yes, I hit the fence. Added to the existing damage, but luckily Ebke had boots on and kicked it back into place......a bit.

Then got in a tight trail trying to exit for a lunch break. Added some more curves to the passenger side.

All in all a good trip. Need to figure out why the truck is going back and forth from closed to open loop once it's warmed up. And I really need to get the t-case clocked and a new x-member built.

Ya narrow problem there is after you narrow you think you can fit everywhere. Damage ensues.

Best advice I can give on narrowing the front is ditch the core support and skin the fenders.

Notice how your short wheel base Blazer hits everything and seems too wide for the trails, and John's full length, bobbed and dovetailed long box fits everywhere you did, just fine, and climbs better???

Honestly the debate I'm having right now, is whether to clock the t-case all the way flat or not. I've heard good points on both ways.

-Clock it all the way up, so that you have a flat bottom.
-Clock it as high as possible, without getting into the floor. Gain lots of clearance, without a lot of fab to clear the floor. Also less strain on the front drive shaft.

I'm one of those anything for clearance guys.

But I would clock it the minimum amount without floor mods. Then build a good skidplate that is seperate from any transfer case mounting. Center clearance just doesn't seem as important as it used too. Rocker clearance IMHO is way more important.

I need to work on the rocker clearance big time. Although I haven't had rocker contact for a bit, it needs to be done.

I'm thinking of the maximum clock, without floor mods. I do have a 1" body lift and poly bushings, so that should help with floor clearance.
