'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
First picture is park lights. Second is low beams (notice LH Amber turns off). 3rd picture is high beams (both lights very dim).

Never once do the lower lights come on, and the park lights seem to do whatever.

All 4 head lights are new silver stars. Splain that Lucy!

Flash was on for 1st and 3rd shot. The one light in the 2nd was bright enough to turn the auto flash off.

Decided to cross check your results against mine.

So mine are working properly, and I see lots of snow.
Yours aren't working properly, and I see no snow.

Clearly, headlights must require adequate snow in order to be properly functional. I recommend that you move to a snowier place, and then your headlight problems will magically disappear. :deal:

Have you yet to switch the lights to a relay feed so they aren't getting their power thru the headlight switch?
That's $20 that makes a huge difference. Cheaper if you wore it yourself. But the lmc or painless kits are literally plug and play. So easy even you cavemen can do it. Other than that you just need to chase wiring. It's a wiring problem. Changing the headlights to leds and rewiring, is more work than fixing the wiring now. It still involves wiring so what's the point.

I think I just need to dive in. Once I get started, I'm sure I will figure it out. Maybe I will save the pods for some backup lights, or more rock lights.

Ethan, I do believe you have made some ground breaking discoveries today.

Bwahahahaha. :haha:

I remember now that if you don't live in a snowy climate you can use headlight fluid as a substitute for natural snowfall. (Or hang around a ski slope a bunch, if you can find one in Kansas). Living in snowy places all my life, I had completely forgotten about that.

YMMV, of course. ;)

I saw your tag the other day. I'm out at the rental property fixing and cleaning it. When I get back to the hotel room tonight I'll see if I can dig up the info on the "high beam" led pod I have on my rig. I didn't cost much at all, just some very minor fab for the mounting bracket.

Cool, thanks. Might just do the high beams then.

You still gotta get the wiring figured out, no matter what you run... :deal:

I still don't see what's wrong with the stock setup. With all 4 high beams running this is one of the brightest headlight setups I've had the chance to drive. And I do know what it's like to be the guy in front of said blindingly-bright beams. :doah:

Bottom line...get the wiring figured out before you worry about replacing the bulbs with anything else.

And on that note...use that multimeter to check all 6 filaments and see which are burned out.

And then go check the 4 filiments in the parking lights.

And then go check the 4 in the side markers (which didn't come on in any of your pictures).

You may find that you have a bunch of burned out bulbs and just a few wiring issues. :dunno:

re-read your description...looks like you have at least some new bulbs that aren't lighting. Definitely start measuring your various voltages and figure out where the ground is gone.

Both side markers work. One is smashed and the lens is gone, but the naked bulb is still there and lit. The other side works fine.

Yes, I will addressing the wiring issue regardless of what lighting I do.

My brother went ahead and ordered the pods, which I was not aware of. Hence my wanting to use them.

Hmm. Sure looks dead in that picture, at least to my eyes. :dunno:

Man, I need to thank @campfire and @blazinzuk for the pants kick. Went outside to check the side marker Ethan said to make sure it was staying on, and sure enough it goes off just like the other Amber. Which screamed ground issue. 2 minutes searching and I found a ground wire that didn't get connected when we wired up the e-fans :doah:

The results:
