'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Next on the list was the paint. I was tired of having paint peel, chip, or scratch, so I got some Keystone Bedliner from my work and sprayed the entire truck with black bedliner. Holds up pretty well to trees, rocks, and tight trails.

Yes sir, we go out about every month to every other month. You been there?

Several times. I've just never heard anyone call it Randolph. Everyone I've ever heard talk about it calls it Tuttle Creek, so I was just making sure there wasn't another offroading area by Randolph.

The next issue I was running into was the steering locking up when full flex one way or the other. I decided to use my high $$$ Reid knuckle for something more that just an impulse buy. I ended up using ORD pass. side steering arm on the knuckle, WFO drop pitman arm (drilled to gm drag link), and WFO tube inserts. I ran the GM drag link ends for my tie-rods. I have 1 picture of it now, but will post more of it tonight. You will see in the picture that I have enough clearance that I didn't have to touch the engine crossmember.

The next little project was a Barnes 13 bolt mild shave diff cover and pinion guard. Since I had already hit the pinion, u-joint straps, and drive shaft, I figured I was pushing my luck. While I had the cover off of the rear i figured I would throw a Detroit locker I had out of a CUCV in the rear to help out with some traction.

My next purchase is what turned my truck into Kay86K5's almost twin. I found a set of 38.5x14.50R16.5 SX's on 16.5x12 black steel wheels for $850. Being that I already had the H1's, I knew I could sell the steel wheels and make some money back.

I put the wheels and tires on the truck to see how they fit and what trimming I might of had to do. Also I was going to repaint the H1's before I put the SX's on them. But, I couldn't resist putting the 38.5's on before then :D

I got the wheels painted and mounted the SX's on them, and WOW what a change some paint and tires will do. With all the orange accents, I'm glad I went the route I did.

P.S. Don't ram a tree line without something protecting your grille :doah:

The next items on the list were,
-High steer. Got tired of smacking rocks and bending the tierod.
-Mini comp cut/rear trim. Also smacking rocks too much.
-Rear hitch delete/custom between frame bumper and d-rings. Better departure angle, and also hitting rocks.

Agian, sorry for the bad picutres. I will post up more/better ones tonight.

I like it!

I ran that same wheel/tire combo for a while and really liked it.

Keep the pics coming.

Better shots of the rear mini comp cut. New grille installed (lasted one trip and already broken again:doah:). And to show the old hitch still hangin down like a big ol' donkey d*ck (glad that thing is gone).

And this is how she sits today. All washed up, bolts checked, fluids checked, and ready to roll for BMR this weekend. I know I have missed some stuff, so as I find it, I will post it up here and try to explain what I was thinking. I have alot of pictures on my wife's camara of the 10-15 trips I've made to Tuttle Creek ORV park over the last year, that I will post up to keep the thread whores happy :D.

Awesome. Love the rig.

Gonna do any sort of tube bumpers?

I'm sure eventually I will do something to protect those areas. Unless I modify them via mother nature :D.

I do plan on doing a cage inside in a few months, and if I have left over tubing I may do something then.

My next up grade after the cage is a front 14bff/05 F350 Dana 60 hybrid axle. That one will deff make the build thread.
