'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Portaban and hack saw. Its not that big of a deal if you don't cut them 100% square....

Also got this last week. New fuel pump, hopefully this will end some of my issues I am still having with my current pump.

I'll start throwing these parts on it next week. Had a rental house to get ready for it's new tenants, and a new born to keep happy.

I cut my last set on a lathe. Bandsaw is the fastest, and less messy way to do it. Sawzall will work, just take your time. Look on craigslist for a vice. You can pick up wiltons, and old craftsmans for under 50.

Yeah they were ordered and shipped correctly. ORD said they don't make the exact bushing I need.

You said you need the thick bushings to be the same as the thin bushings you have, right???

Martin

Side to side yes. My springs are Super Lift. My spring eye holes are the same front to rear.

I guess what I am saying is, ORD doesn't make a thin shouldered bushing with my eye hole diameter.

Ah, I went back and reread your post about the bushings, it makes more sense now.

No not yet. Trying to get a rental ready for a new tenant.

I will report back with my results.

Finally got around to cutting the bushings today.

Used a hacksaw on one, and a razor/utility knife on the other. Mainly for a little R&D.

The hacksaw was a little more strenuous, but a little more stable. But overall wasn't as accurate.

The razor sliced pretty easily, but I could see one slip up and you could really mess up the bushing or loose a finger.

I like the finished product of the razor, but the hacksaw felt safer. And band saw would have been perfect.

Left is saw, right is razor.
