'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
I'm lazy and didn't go back to read, where does this system gets its engine coolant tempers data? On my 93 F150 the ECM temp sensed failed and it would literally flood itself out and require about 1/2 throttle to get it to restart. That's what happens when the exm thinks it's at 2 degrees.

Edit- I should add it was intermittent as well. It would start and run like a champ most of the time then once in awhile it would go stupid rich. I just so happened to have my scan tool on it at the time

That's exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about. Having data turns guesswork into systematic diagnostics.

Diagnostics > Guesswork, every time.

It pulls from a temp sensor. I was having issues a while back, and replaced it. Temp sensor reads perfect.
 
How much money would you be out to just replace all of the senders?

I agree the best option is to use the scan tool and monitor the issue until it becomes an issue, that said I bet you got a sensor that is drying out causing your issues.

I've thought about doing this just to eliminate those possibilities.
 
Datadatadata. Get some data before you start randomly messing with things. Random guessing often makes problems worse (by causing new problems and adding extra confusion).
If my temp sensor read 180*at all times, even through a rough running patch, I will not replace it.

If my TPS shows to read the correct % while going through a rough running patch, I will not replace it.

And so on.
 
Well, the Jimmy is at my buddies to get it tuned a little better. Drove it across town. Did pretty good. But the real troubles started after I got there. Checking for leaks around the intake, with what I was told was water. After the fire in my engine bay, he realized he gave me the laquer thinner squirt bottle. Managed to put it out relatively quick, but not before it claimed my oil pressure line. But didn't know that until after the next test drive, and we left a trail of oil under us as we left his driveway.

After a short trip to the parts store, I replaced the bad section and cleaned up the oil mess.

My buddy says the system is very similar to a couple others, and should have a really good base tune on it tomorrow. Said he will drive it on a couple short evening trips to work out the rest of the bugs, and have it back to me by Thursday. Fingers crossed.
