'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Uhh...Thanks!  :)

Yes, measuring the tap is a sure-fire way to get you in the ballpark. But if you drill out just barely enough to shoe-horn the tap in there...you'll be cutting through more metal than necessary. Dulling the tap prematurely.
Ha!! You assumed that I measure the very end.... Lol! You have to be away from the tip slightly to avoid working too hard, but still maintain full thread height.
And I use good cutting oil with good taps, that helps a lot!

Given my target audience:

Yeah no crap.
As you can see, I don’t drill and taps much.

I think such explanation is justified. :waytogo:

Well it’s a done deal. Used the HF tap set, some good cutting oil, and had to purchase a 9/16 bit, but it’s all together and sealed up.

I think I may look for a new t-stat housing.

The hole before the tap.

And I forgot to get a picture after I tapped it. But this is all finished up.

Ok, that’s what I was going to go with was the VHT.

I was going to go with black, but I’m not much of a person that likes boring so maybe something fun.

That's the color I'm painting my drivetrain. Small parts being black with zinc coated bolts where I can get em.
