'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
What are my options for 40" tall 16.5 tires? I know about the Swamper and Military options, but is anyone else making a 16.5 tire?

I know Nitto and Toyo don't.

Sold the old EFI system for $250. Guy is going to come over and help me pull it so he can see how I hooked it all up. Wiring harness is almost done. The guy is coming by this week to check placement and see where I want to mount the ECU.

How you gonna mount the computer? I did the mount that Larry mentions in the 8.1 swap thread. It wasn't the cheapest option, but I ain't gonna lie, it was really nice (I posted a pic in this thread a few pages back). Makes for a clean install and packaged nice and tight. I also mounted mine on the driver side wheel well

That's what I was thinking of doing too. Although I don't have any inner fenders anymore, so I'll have to pick up a new set from work.

My thoughts were also on the driver's side, which is where they are mounted in factory 8.1 trucks.

Gmt800 trucks had the pcm at the driver side front corner of the engine compartment.

Both of Larry's are on the passenger side inner fender as it has been mentioned. His Howell harness had enough reach to place it anywhere for the most part. Tell your harness guy where you want it so he can give you enough slack to put it where you want.

Knock knock… Who’s there? Banana. Banana who? Knock knock… Who’s there? Banana. Banana who? Knock knock… Who’s there? Orange. Orange who? Orange you glad I didn’t say banana? #orangeenginesmatter
I just had to do it.

Larry and I have discussed the idea of an orange 8.1. Not out of the question, but by the time it's all trimmed out with accessories, wiring and such, the block becomes less and less visible. Take a look above and see if you can see the block in those pics. We will toy around with the idea more for sure.

Nice install BTW!

Yes I see your point. That is probably why all the OEMs now days just save the money and leave all their engines raw except some of the stuff on top that might possibly be visible from under all the plastic they just cover them with also.
