'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Went and grabbed the fenders tonight. Small amount of surface rust on the inner lip. I’ll sand it off and repaint it. Outside of the fenders are perfect for a patina resto, but not really what I am going for. For $40 I couldn’t be happier.

The guy has quite a bit of rust free parts. Didn’t want to part ways with his doors yet. Going to work on that lol. Had a rust free Texas truck that is all the same blue color.

Got up early and worked for a bit this morning.

Temporarily mounted the throttle pedal. Not permanent, but functional for now.

Got the wires ran for the pedal, just need to add a grommet to seal it.

Finally finished up the intake tube with the correct mass airflow.

Still need to run the main power wire for the computer, and the power for the fuel pump. Then upgrade my battery cables to larger gauge for the big block.

Made a little more progress this evening. Got my new battery cables made and ran. Insulated the positive cable that runs down to the starter by the exhaust manifold. Trying to do my best work any time I replace or install something has me feeling really good about the truck this time around.

2ga welding cables with hammer crimped ends. Then heat shrunk.

Then smashed my thumb and split the nail lol.

Still doing better than my finger.

I’m sure it will work fine for small stuff but I prefer a distribution block with one large power lug which will accept one larger gauge wire so you don’t need to split the power distribution from a large gauge to a smaller like you did.

I run a blue sea like this on my passenger firewall.

Well this won’t be powering anything big, so I’ll keep this for now.

Mounted it in some old screw holes the PO had from a crappy alarm system.

Then ran it along the core support to the positive term. Not sure if this is the permanent setup, but this will work fine for now.

Hey @campfire is this the same blue as your old step side?

It might be. Camera/lighting/glare throw off the tint. I'd say it's not bright enough, but that's because I look at my trucks in person. The Suburban was the same shade of blue before the P.O. painted it, so it still has blue hiding underneath here and there.

My color is "Light Blue Metallic." Looking through @dremu's brochure page, it appears that was the same light blue choice available on the1986 Jimmy. There is definitely a lighter shade of blue on later squarebodies, but it seems we may have started out as twins. :waytogo:

Mine was a pretty neat 2-tone scheme, before it was sprayed purple.

And here's how I remember the color. Much nicer in bright light than in dim.

With a fleetside, I probably would have kept the "Silver Metallic" stripe. But it just didn't match the stepside.
