86 jimmy-Bakers build

I've been looking at option for SYE kits for np208, tom woods offers a kit with a machined down output shaft and output housing, or the driveshaft superstore has a kit where you drill and tap your output shaft and install there yolk ( looks like a normal slip yolk with 4 bolt flange on end) and bolt it on,

Yeah, I looked at those when trying to figure out my SYE setup. Those are a pretty cool design, but not a true SYE kit. I went back and forth with it and was lucky enough to find a 241 w/ mech speedo on craigslist for $80, so decided to go that route with a JBConversions SYE kit. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, you may as well just get a new slip-yoked driveshaft with a CV on it for your 208 and call it good.

It isn't that hard to convert a manual speedo over to digital using vss and drac.

Well been putting some miles on the jimmy, drives good, brakes will stop on a dime and give ya change. Did find out the gas tank keeps building pressure but can't find a vent line? Did diesels not have a gas tank vent? Motor runs but doesn't seen to have the power it should have, idk if it's the crappy edelbrock carb or the pressure building in fuel tank or both, I have timing set and carb tuned in where it should be

Are you sure its building pressure and not sucking vacuum instead? I plugged my vent line once and it would run ok till it built up to much vacuum and then it would act weird for a bit. The vent line is on the sending unit, going to be smallest line on the unit itself.

We'll I checked out the sending unit diesel vs gas, diesel sending units just have feed and return and gas has feed, return and vent, so either gotta put a gas sender in and run a vent or put a vented gas cap on :)

We'll I bought a used holley truck avenger 670 off eBay for $32 bucks, I installed that in place of my never happy edelbrock 600 and like magic totally different driving truck, I also took the top off for the first time in over 10 years lol, and surprise no hidden rust underneath :) I'd did manage to break the rear window cable and had to tear tailgate all apart, no window for now, I have everything to convert to hand crank but I think I'll get a new cable and give it one more try,

Just surfing CL I found I whole 91 k30 3+3 I was gonna buy the guy said he would part out and I offered him $600 for axles, the front was drw but I got a deal on new ac delco srw hub assemblies for $378 pair, and took gears out of the rear 14 bolt because it was a cc axle and put them in an c20 14 bolt
