Changed the oil and installed a new diff cover on my front D60 today. I have about 200 miles on these gears at this point. The contact patterns look really good. I had to heat up the oil jug with a halogen light to get it to pump out. Winter wrenching is less fun. I'm trying a Lubelocker gasket this time, so far so good.
Was the perfect time for a locker.
I am jealous of yours. I can't drop the cash on it right now, the bumper and the NV4500 are next in line.
Also with the thick cut 5:13's the cross pin won't come out without pulling the ring gear off the carrier, so that sucks too. The perfect time was actually two months ago when I rebuilt that axle.
You grind the gears so the cross pin can come out. Done it alot but not as important to do on a full floating axle.
That's good to know there is aneasier way than pulling it all the way diwn again. Why not important on the full floating axle?
Cause you don't have to remove the center pin to pull shafts. Semifloat axle the vast majority are c clip so that cross pin has to come out to pull the shafts
Still waiting on my bumper components so I'm piddling on other stuff. I have just had my spare and hi-lift rattling around in the bed and I am tired of it. I made a mount to stand up the tire against the bed rail at the front left side of the bed and welded a couple of tie downs to put a strap around the tire to hold it down. I'm using a piece of 3/4 all thread to hold the tire against the bed rail. I could easily fit a 40" tire in this mount, this is a 37.
I'm going to tuck the hi lift just below the bed rail right behind the spare, but i haven't got that done yet.

I like running my spares this way if they have to be in the bed. Doesn't work with a full crossover tool box though or a fifth wheel. LOL
Finished mounting my hi lift in the bed today. The mounts are is 1/4 x 2 flat bar with a tab of 2" angle on the bottom. I'm using 1/2" bolts to secure the jack to the mounts. Looks like it is going to work out good. I'm planning on mounting a shovel and axe on the other side on a similar mount as this.

Need some of these if you can fit them so you don't need a wrench to remove the jack. Also a locking device too. Looks good, I like stuff mounted cleanly in the bed.

I'm going to just start copying everything you do for one of my trucks I think. Can you please buy an OBS Ford and start making stuff for those too?
Yeah I would love to get rid of my work beater so I can just concentrate on the other four lol.
