86 K30 - Sarge - strong box doubler and triple stick shifter

Is the traction bar made of 2x2 .250"? I've got some of that at home and was thinking of using it for a traction bar. Just seems heavy.

Close, 1.5x1.5 .250"

I went with the 1.5" so I could be sure to have a nice even bead all the way around the bushing sleeve. 2" would work, but, I had to buy it and 1.5" was cheaper and seemed plenty strong :D

Is that right rear spring negative arched? Kinda looks like it in the pic. Do you have bump stops in the back yet?

Glad all the mods worked well. I'm gonna steal the cab protection idea.

How do you like your Pitbulls in muddy conditions like you just wheeled?

$40 pro comp bump stops aka crappy shocks :haha: I am going to add a bump before next time, as for the spring....it right there, any more and it would be negative :D I think I am going to bump it right there maybe a 1/2" sooner and move the shock mount up an inch for when I do get a decent shock on there.

I will be honest, I absolutely love the pitbulls !!! In deep thick mud I'm sure a TSL or bogger would do better, but I've never had any problems in mud with these and for rocks, ruts, dirt and street these are by far the best all around "big" tire out ther IMHO.

Nice build sir :waytogo:. Wish I would have seen this earlier. Can't wait to see what's next!

Next up is a winch and as far as fab stuff....some cab protection and some re-work of my tool and spare part storage (I'm tired of the tool box I've been using)

What are you thinking storage wise?

What are you thinking storage wise?

I have a couple of ideas. I carry a decent amount of spare stuff with me, and a few items are decent size (spare d-shafts, and a complete set of axle shafts) so I need a wide storage area. I am thinking about doing a removable slide out drawer in the back portion of the bed. I made the bed floors removable for access, the back covers the K5 fuel tank I run, and I've already found I made it way too heavy after having dropped it on my hand once :doah:. So I may make a lighter actual bed floor with 6-10" sides and a hinged lid that can slide out and open. I'm also looking at possibilities of some storage compartments in the front outside areas of the bed, right behind the cab in the first "square" between the outer tube and actual bed box if that makes sense. Those would be great for fluids, hoses, small parts etc.

It's all still in the "thinking about how to do it" phase :D next I will look into what I need to source as far as parts and see if I can do it in a way I'll be happy with and not spend an arm and a leg  (that's the tricky part)

My brother is thinking about doing the same thing to his suburban, so if he comes up with any good ideas , I'll pass them along. Good luck with the brainstorming!

My best idea and plan is to find a "rat pack" weatherguard toolbox. Different sizes available. Do a search and bam

I've been slowly collecting military themed items to use as storage for my rig. One of these days I will actually put them on the truck :doah:

Since I updated the Willys build I guess I should get this one up to date also :D

Got a winch :waytogo:

No real carnage, I do have a motor mount thats past its service life so the set of DIY mounts will be going in this week and ........maybe.....maybe some new tube .....

Thanks guys :waytogo: and yes Jake loves that big old truck :D he has already informed me that he IS going to run a "blue trail" the next time we go to Rausch Creek.
Overall I really couldn't be happier with how this thing has handled everything we've thrown at it so far....wether its cruising down the road at 50-60mph or climbing over rocks the size of small cars it really does anything we ask :D

I've got a picture in my head of a really tight fitting exo cage for the cab that I hope to do in the next week or so ......hopefully it works the way I envision it

I had a case of the "tube bending bug" so......

So there's my "stealth" exo cage :pimp: I'm pretty happy with it, I have a few things to finish up but overall it worked out nicely...and like the rest its 1.75" .120 wall DOM.

nicely done.. love how that cowl exit point looks... :waytogo:
