86 K30 - Sarge - strong box doubler and triple stick shifter

I just got done putting the TWF PVC inserts in my tires. It's not bad at all, just stand the PVC up right, turn it sideways, and grab the tire and just fall onto it. Might have to jump around on it a little bit but, it only took a minute or two to do each one of mine with no special tools or anything.

Oh, and the hubcap looks good! :thumb:

You guys are ridiculous.... That's NOT how u install those. :doah:

This is how:

- place insert on ground, vertically, near a wall/tree/rig/something to lean on.
- set tire, horizontally, atop the insert.
- place one foot inside the tire, on the bead.
- place other foot on opposite bead, whilst leaning on (surface of choice.)
- a slight downward "shove" with the feet, will push the beads passed the insert.
- step out of tire.
- Lean tire on wall at a 45* angle.
- kick the bottom of the insert into the tire.
- line up.

Done.

That's how you do it, with NO tools.
I can do it, and I'm only 5'5" tall, and about 185lbs. :waytogo:

Thanks Brandon :waytogo:

I really don't see it being a problem, from working at the Ford dealer I've mounted and balanced more tires then I can remember, but some of the toughest mount jobs are certain dirt bike tires. 18&19" double rim lock's bring the suck, even better when it's a high $$ brand new black wheel that the customer does not want scratched but wants his heavy duty tube and stiff a** "off brand" tire put on :doah: I spent a few years running a motorcycle shop and have done soo many bike, quad, and street bike tires that I try to forget, most all by hand...........

So a few pieces of plastic don't scare me :D

Oh, and I did get a shipping confirmation from TW fab, inserts will be here Monday :woot:

Just because you don't always hear about the "good" buying experiences ....

I got the Pitbulls from a dealer, Hoyt 4x4 in FL, Tony beat the closest price w/shipping by $100 and I ordered them Monday around 2pm and they were at my shop in Baltimore on Wednesday by 1 pm  :waytogo:

The same for Trailworthy Fab, they had my inserts ready to go the day after I placed the order and were great to deal with :waytogo:

Damn Josh! This will be awesome!

Rick

Thanks Rick :waytogo:

I can't wait to see what they look like on the truck, I know one thing, off the truck these things look HUGE !!!! Now to find the funds for a doubler :doah: (it may be a while :D)

Did you see the RC trip post Rich started? June 22/23 , I'm trying to make it for Sat.

I saw the post. And as of now I am open. But two things may slow me down. A Trailer and Time Off. Still looking for a sweet deal on a trailer. I just got back to work from a week off from Broncitus. Other than that its do able. Truck is pretty much ready, just some tinkering to do.

What size/ type etc trailer are you looking for? I'll keep an eye out :waytogo:

Well Thanks to Brandon running the truck to scale for me one day, Fully loaded with Fuel, Brandon and some odds and ends, 6450lbs!!! So figure I need a bare minimun of 8k trailer, I figure a 10k is best. 16-18 footer. Doesnt have to be pretty, just needs to be in good shape.

Side note, I had this pig loaded on my old trailer, brandons new trailer, which is a 7k landscape trailer. It towed around the block fine, everything looked good, even tires. I'm just not convince a 7k trailer will handle it. But, I am still considering driving this thing to RC. Kinda been also been looking for a good set of highway tires(35s) and swap out at RC. Not 100% sure those 38.5 Pitbulls will handle the 2.5hr trip with no spare.

Rick

I will keep an eye out. I definitely agree on the weight, plus a 10k opens it up for other uses as well. I looked and looked and looked for a decent used trailer a few months back, everything I found was either junk or WAY overpriced, I then toyed with building my own but after really running the numbers (axles, springs, steel, decking, lights etc) I found a guy on CL down in So MD , Potomac trailers, I ended up picking up a 12k 7x18 (same size as the one I borrowed for RC last year) for $2995. it has 6k Dexter braking axles, all LED lights, radial 16" tires, I couldn't buy the materials for what I paid for the whole thing.
It is not super HD and some of the fab was not as good as I would like, but i wanted to make the fenders removable anyway so what's a little more cutting and welding on a brand new trailer :doah: :haha: overall im happy with it, I use it for work as well if the other trailer is out so it works out. I towed my equipment down to Hopewell VA (240 miles each way) and it pulls great, cruise set at 80, 5k on the deck, north 95 at midnight was no problem

I was at the shop for a few minutes today and couldn't resist :D

No inserts till monday, but had to see what they looked like :D

They look AWESOME!

I talked to that guy down at Potomac trailers. If I buy new I'll need to finiance one and he told me he doesnt do that. then he called me for days afterwards not knowing which customer I was. Like he was randomly calling numbers back...

There's a local deckover goosneck 10k trailer here in sykesville for $2600:whistle:

You need Jacob next to it for comparison

I haven't told him the tires are here yet  it would be an extremely long weekend of him asking "can we put the new tires on Sarge yet ? " :D

But rest assured, that pic will be coming :waytogo:

The guy down there is a little strange for sure, I couldn't get a good read on him :dunno: I'm happy with mine, it's not a PJ or anything but after the few mods I made it should work great for my purposes.
I will definitely keep an eye out for you, told my brother too as well.

Thanks for the compliments

Tires look good. I know how huge these things really are.

Truck looks awesome. Gotta keep tabs on the other shortened K-30 in Maryland :waytogo:

Love the front bumper ORD? I need to get rid of my huge front bumper eventually.

Those look like they are only 40 inches tall. Pretty weak :)

Btw, we camped out in the trailer last night. My back and shoulder are so sore.....
