86 K5, The truck with no name

Not much was accomplished this weekend, we rebuilt the trans in my buddy's truck instead.

However I've got a couple recent pictures!

Currently we're trying to decide what to do for a fuel pump, and how to connect it to the factory fuel rails.

Due to an upcoming gender reveal, my truck is on the back burner while the 72 gets prettied up.
Also, the ECM is on its way to Texas for a tune.

So plans have changed.

Somehow during the transplant the 5.3 was wounded, and since I finally brought the other red truck home I made the executive decision to take the 2014 4.8 from it, and stab it directly into the Blazer.

And since I've got a 76 K20 frame, I think I'll paint it and throw this nice red cab on there, and see if I can get ahold of the bed for it, since I know where it's at. Then pick up a decent small block somewhere and have a solid old 4wd 3/4 ton pickup.

So it's officially home again!
And moving under it's own power from the 2013 4.8.

It ran enough to drive itself on the trailer, but as soon as it got home I started tearing into the old Holley 4160 that had found itself on the 4.8, now with a renew kit in it, and tuned half decent, it runs like a scalded dog.

Now I need to find a shop to do exhaust, while open manifolds sound cool, they get old fast lol

This truck has always had a pretty serious rake to it, more than I've ever seen on another Blazer. I ordered a 1 inch zero rate for the front, but I'm not sure that's going to be enough, with 33s on the front and 31s on the back, it still wasn't quite level, but I'd say even with the stock stance of most Blazers. Also, it looks like the front axle sits just a bit further back than any other half ton 4x4 I've seen, but that might just be me.

So I took it to an exhaust shop the other day, and was told that they couldn't do anything with it, since the driver's side truck manifold flange apparently only exists in the fever dreams of lunatics.

I had a pair of Schoenfeld " 4wd Squarebody LS" headers that I had planned on using with the 99 5.3, but never actually did, so I dug them out and decided to slap them on.

Drivers side actually fits flawlessly, clearing the frame, cross member and shift linkage with loads of space, the passenger side however clears everything but the firewall, and it's not even close. I bashed the schit out of it and its still probably an inch or more away from fitting.

It looks like the engine is mounted further back than mine and I have the Schoenfeld headers installed. The Schoenfeld website says to use DD engine mounts which I don’t have. I’m using ICT mounts.
For me there are two major issues:
1) the drivers side O2 bung faces the spring shackle so to run the O2 sensor, I’d need to plug the current bung and have a new bung welded into the top of the collector.
2) the passenger side collector looks like it will have interference with the front drive shaft.
I don’t have my truck completely assembled and driving so can’t tell for sure but glad I have a pair of LS swap shorty headers as a backup.
A little frustrating considering the Schoenfelds were almost $800…
