87' GMC Custom Crew Cab Short Bed CUMMINS!

So yesterday I built the trans crossmember, today I built the custom Poly motor mounts (With Grease-able zirk fittings and don't ask me why... Some times I just do things okay LOL), and tomorrow I will be building the cradles for the engine mounts which will finally allow me to officially say the engine has been installed (Not permanently because I still have to finish boxing in the frame and send it off to powder coating before final assembly)... I still plan to build and additional bolt in crossmember under the engine oil pan. I spoke with Advance adapters to make sure I had plenty of clearance for the atlas transfer case and as it stands everything should fit like a glove:laugh:

Frame looks good, fit looks good. I called on the parts for the factory parts to make the swap easier. Nobody has them that Kenworth could find, said they would have to call the factory. On a brighter note they are not all that expensive.

The full weight of the Drive Train is officially supported by the chassis.. Oh baby we are movin!

I'm working on a little blog site that will show case some of my past, current, and future projects... It is currently in a very rough layout but check it out all the same..

Pulled the engine for the 500th time to finish welding the engine mount brackets.

I had to bend the front engine brackets back to clear the braket line sleeves in the chassis.

Went back over the frame rails with my 3" sander to clean everything up, wiped everything down with wax / grease remover, primed, and painted everything with satin black paint. When the frame is 100% completed I will be powder coating the suspension and chassis with a Platinum Wrinkle finish powder coat but for the time being I don't want anything to rust...

I pulled out my Miller Square Wave Tig welder for the engine mounts to make sure the welds were strong enough for all the abuse they would be subjected to... I use to Tig weld a lot more than Mig Welding but as soon as I bought my Miller 252 Mig welder I was hard to go back... A good mig welder really makes a fabricator lazy! I really should spend more time under my tig.. Tig welds are just so pretty:)

Subscribed 'cause this might turn out to be in the top 2 nicest Cummins swaps I've seen! :pimp: :thumb:

You know I have seen a lot of pretty cool Cummins swaps and the amount of work that I know first hand has gone into building those trucks I take this compliment quite humbly and with great appreciation. I have spent nearly three solid weeks on just the front frame rails alone to get where I am.

I told my wife last night while we looked at the progress we have made on this projected and I said you know babe we have a long way to go before this truck is going to be ready but to have the engine officially supported by the chassis with out any further alterations required is such a massive step forward that the rest of this project will be a breeze by comparison.. This truck will be on the road before the end of 2012!

It's definitely BEAUTIFUL work! You should be proud! Your competition (in my opinion) http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=238207&highlight=noibn

Since your taking the time to do all this work...Please take the time to knock off all the weld spatter adjacent to the welds. Powder coating will look so much better if thats cleaned up nice. Nice fab work by the way. :waytogo:

So what the final plan for this anyway, wheeler, driver, tow rig, combo of all?

Pavement Princess with the ability to survive armageddon... I'll likely head to the hills for a Christmas tree, hit the trail to do a little high lake camping, but this is definitely not a Rock Crawler.... I have a diesel cruiser for the rocks:waytogo:

 sounds just like mine. Pavement princess, with the ability to do anything I want. And sled pull.
