87 K30 Buildup

I started working on the winch mount this Sunday, only got a little bit done, but i did get most of everything cut and all the holes drilled, so the rest should be assembly. Ordered my die for the bender today and am about to order some tube for the bumpers. I wont get a chance to start on the bumpers for another 2 weeks almost, but then ill have an entire week to work on it before i go back to work for the summer. Steering parts should be here by then and if all goes well ill be ready to make a trip somewhere to have some fun that weekend.

This pic reminds me of the one on PBB a few years ago of a Ford Escort station wagon with the back seats folded down and the back of it filled with 24 packs of Coors Light. Anyway, I like your K30, keep doing whatever it is you want to do with it.I might be buying a '83 diesel K30(single cab longbed 4x4 SRW like yours) later this week.

Long time since update

Alright, after months of not being able to work on the truck i have finally started to work again. If the rain would stop i could really get some work done. Working on the front suspension and the steering now. Have the ORD crossover steering setup and will be picking up a new steering box this week so i can run it. Have the tuff country HD springs for the front with ORD shackles and a few other front parts. Need to pick up some shocks and ill be ready to go.

Also going to finish up the winch and keep working on the front bumper. Need to find some steel tube as cheap as possible. Anyway, hopefully in the next week or so ill have some pictures posted of the front.

Got any updates? Which winch are you using? I can't remember and don't want to go back through this.:o:D

Kinda an update. I started to do the crossover steering today and forgot that i had left my jackstands about 80 miles away. So instead of getting much done, I got the sway bar removed and effectively finished a good part of my case of beer. Ill be picking up my jackstands this week and doing the front suspension and crossover steering. i have wanted posts up here and on Pirate for a 2wd steering box so i can finish the steering. If anyone has one let me know.

Winch is the milemarker 12k hydraulic. Winch mount is finished, minus bolting it to the truck and welding it up. I also called around for some tube prices all week. Then I wanted to punch myself in the face for not ordering it last year. Price quotes are a full 1.50 higher a foot than they were last year. Oh well, Ill be getting some tube in the next couple weeks and finishing off the bumper and starting a roll cage.

I see you're selling the 12k MM winch. Have you changed course in the build? Got any updated pics?

BTW, I liked the pic in Readers' Rides a few issues back.:wink1:

Unfortunately, due to a large amount of "Change" im having to sell the winch to fund some other things right now. If it doesn't sell, no big deal, but the truck build is still on hold til I move and get a garage (this summer some time.) So no updates, but I am looking forward to starting work again on the truck. Truck is still running great, but only being used around the farm at the moment.

I cant believe I missed that copy of 4wheel. Got a copy you can scan the picture from? I had no idea it ever got posted in there. If anyone has a copy of the magazine and could scan in that page I would appreciate it. What month was it?

Thanks,
Dunleavy
