87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

haha, just for sh*t's and giggles, I optioned it out the way I'd want it.....

$3800 :eek1::doah::eek1::crazy::haha:

I did refrain from picking the night vision goggle filter for $700.... :haha:

Why refrain?
If you got the coin for a $3800 touch screen you probably have $4500 too.............

By the way your rig is looking killer. The big stuff is cool but I love all the little details that make me go wow how did I miss that :waytogo:.

:haha: wonder what it's like driving with night vision goggles.... :eek1:

maybe I'll have to "appropriate" the next I.R camera I install on a boat... run it thru the LCD.. now i'll guarantee that'd be a first! :haha: actually I was pretty surprised on the first one i did, that they where only about 5 g's.. i figured they'd be more...

and thanks.... pretty revved on the cord grips... that's basically how everything runs in and out of the cab.. other than the throttle and speedo cable...

Ever seen The Cannonball Run, where Jackie Chan is driving the Subaru with their lights off, using night vision to evade the police???

:haha:

Edit:

@ 1:57... "This infrared is the cat's ass!"

:haha:

Its not too fun. Depth perception is horrible. We had night vision camera set up running to a LCD display mounted near the driver's side of the windsheild on our MRAPs in Afghanistan.

Been going through your build all the way from post #1 and I have to hand it to you. Your skills and concepts are amazing. I cant wait to see the finished rig.

Awesome work as usual, now that I'm caught up on your progress I can disappear for another 6 months and then come back. It's kind of like waiting for a great TV show to come out on DVD so you can watch all the episodes back to back. :D

I should have realized when i said that, that of all places, this forum would have folks experienced in that...thanks for your service and the kind words...

one other thing... you brought up a term that i like to think i bring interesting stuff to the table on, conceptual... I sometimes think my stuff is so over the top on that end, that many can't relate to, or maybe appreciate... but if i've influenced or lit a bulb in someones noggin at any point, I'm happy...

tho everyone isn't going to like them, I'd like to think I have some pretty creative ideas here and there... a couple I feel are pretty innovative, the breaker panel, and tho it hasn't seemed to go over huge, I really think the exposed tube/panel console is truly gonna look sick when done...

and as long as I'm happy with it, thats all that really matters.. can't please all the people, all the time... :wink1:

 I must have missed the people that didn't like that. It is one of my favorite parts of your build (and giving me ideas for a future custom dash).

And please don't worry about pleasing anybody but yourself (I like your style).

:haha: yes, yes it did... :wink1:

that was a poorly worded explanation on my part as usual.... :o tho I sure some don't dig the "style" in here, it was more a comment on my daily life people... hotrod friends that stop by, etc that don't seem overly impressed with it...

one of those ones where I kinda regret showing the "process", unfinished photo's, progress, etc and think if I just showed the finished, painted result at the end, reactions would be different...

All you have to do is look at the 300,000 views of this thread if there is any question about people's interest. :eek1:

While it's true that some people may not 'get it' I think there are many more people who DO...they just don't have anything clever or insightful to add so they just keep coming back to drool over the photos and the creative process.

Creativity and innovation is contagious... when someone is willing to take it "over the top", it's usually a catalyst that inspires other people to do the same. Call it the "Might As Well" philosophy applied to human behavior... :D I know that when I see cool build progress on someone else's thread it always inspires me to get back out into the shop to do something too.

:usaflag:

That philosophy is very hard on the wallet... :doah:

oh soooo very true....... i'm a good, or is it bad, example of that! :haha:

Greg, always bringing the common sense.... thanks....

did my 50 hrs of torture, now it's off to the dungeon for some fun! :saweet:

that panel came out good.definitely goona be a great addition to the already trick truck.looks almost ready for components.i like the new heater and vent system also.

thank ya my fellow skate rat... :wink1:

one thing I realized while finishing that up is that I'm really glad I'm showing restraint in getting everything in fill primer and color... the more I mock up prior, the better...

the ONLY thing left to weld to the cage at this point is a couple welded nuts for the LCD panel... I'll get that done tomorrow... the other projects for tomorrow are to plod ahead and get the ds fender sectioning closer to completion, and the qrter sectioning, so I can finish off the ds slider......

once thats done (been putting that one off, tho quicker, I hate repeating what I've already done) I can go ahead and get primer and paint on the cab and cage...

right now I'm doing final clean up and layout of my 205 parts.. gonna start putting that together over the next couple nights... on the coffee table, watching TV! :haha:

yeah man no problem.im fighting the urge to just fudge through some of my restoration just to get mine roadworthy and outa the garage.i see people runnin around with their old cars and i wana show mine off.not too often you see a 72 blazer runnin around these parts.:wink1:there is one down the street im gonna try and aquire and see what he wants for it.it would be nice to have anether one to play with after i get this one done.
