somebody chimed in at some point with the actual Jap meaning...

but in reference to me, Ryoken is a mech in the game Battletech...

apparently my buds think I skate vert like a death robot... :haha:

I've said it aloud a few times to myself...just to hear it. Maybe I'm weird but I try to 'pronounce' most user names here.

When I talk to people on the phone I sometimes get "T"-rusty, or just Rusty...in my mind it was always trusty. I capitalized the second letter because my rig was "Rusty but trusty".

Ha. I hear ya. I guess that's why there are bosses. I guess somebody has to take things seriously all the time, but it sure ain't gonna be me.

--This is kinda off the current topic of your thread, but I was watching Xtreme 4x4 today and saw that they have a Quincey air compressor in their shop too. Now that you've had yours for a while, what is your opinion of the Quincey vs. the other popular brands? I think that's going to be my next purchase for my garage.

By the way--nice work as always!

the Quincy definitely rocks... output is phenomenal... the 2 stage really kicks arse for heavy air gigs, blasting, etc... I don't think it's that much quieter than a single stage, but it should last a fair bit longer... definitely puts out more air...

I'm sure the comparable 2 stage IR is nice... i was looking heavy at the IR's too.. but i got the Quincy on sale for the same as the IR so i went for it.. northern tools, free shipping.... actually you just reminded me, i want to change the oil this week..

but even the single stage stuff in the 6, to $900 range should be enough for most home shops... i've always found a 60 gal tank to suffice, but I'm sure an 80 is always great if you can fit/afford it...

damn you...... :angry1:

:eek1: :haha: I'm trying mang..... :haha:

trust me, it's forefront in my cranium... all else is on hold till I get a rolling chassis... still got a few parts needed...

I think I only have 3 major mods left, shock towers, front and rear, and the back bumper.. and I need the 60 in to do the front towers/x-tie, well, actually, i could just mock up the housing....
I'm just giving you a bad time Paul!

oh, i know.. just fockin around.. it's all good... i guess any build like this has a history of not getting done and I'm just not that type...

I just read through almost every page of your build. This has left me feeling dizzy, lazy, uncreative, and untalented. On top of that my eyes are bleeding. :woot:

Keep up the great work! :waytogo:

btw, out of curiosity, has anyone here ever said my name out loud in a conversation?
I do all the time! when Im trying to explain how ridiculous the skills of this guy online whos building the sickest Blazer ever to my buddies. they just look at my with blank stares.

furthering the Ryoken name...

thanks guys... :o I'm just an average gearhead, it's just nice for me to have an audience for my creativity... it's great to reach such a varied audience and hopefully some of my ideas can be used by others... this intraweb stuff is quite amazing and amusing at the same time! :woot:

so.. I'm ready to tap into my axle account and order some more parts... but I just realized my perfectly good 4;10 down carrier for the 60 is useless, as they don't make thick 5;13's from what i can tell... and i'm not digging the idea of a spacer for a street driven rig...

so now it looks like i need a new carrier.. should i just get a 35 spline carrier and new inner axles to go with it? otherwise i'll use my necked down 30's and the 35 spline outers i already have... are the necked down 30's gonna be a bad weak link? I'm gonna be running slugs so i figure it might be best to upgrade now....

Do you have a gm 60? if so then your inner axles shafts will be 35 spline and the stock outers are 30 spline. Here's a quote from the Dana 60 Bible:

"GM 1977-87 K30 1 ton 4wd
1984-88 CUCV
1988-91.5 V30
All GM / Chevy versions were passenger side differential, regular rotation (low pinion) gears, disc brakes, 35 spline inners, 30 spline outers, internal style hubs, and kingpin knuckles. "

So you should be good to go on current carrier if you can source thick cut gears...

yeah, GM.. ok, then I have the necked down 35 inners from the earlier yrs.. and i have aftermarket 35 outers..

wow, that's a decent price... most standard Yukon thin gears I've been seeing have been $300+...

I've seen that Nitro name kicking around but haven't heard anything on them... I assume it's a decent quality component... sweet, thanks, that just saved me a couple hundy at least..... now I can just use my old carrier/spiders/neckdowns... eventually I'll ARB it, and maybe I'll do killer inners at least, and maybe outers at that point..... but I'm thinking the 35 stub's I already have are the decent spicer ones...

Yeah that definitely makes things a little more convenient
