Do them both...slowly...you got 15 years before retirement

which reminds me...will I ever get too old to be driving a topless K5?

unfortunately, I'll be working till the day I drop, even if that's 80...... :doah:

but I'll be very lucky if my battered arse makes it another 15...

seeing this thread pop up all the time now makes me wanna update it for real.... I'll have to work on that...

Yep...I will too...my only hope would be to get the house paid off...then maybe I would only have to work part time...

If only Amity Police had a pension plan...

little bit of love for the K5......

getting a roll-around cradle...

sitting up on saw horses for welding... it's 1.5" x 14 gauge, so it's pretty light.. picked up 70' last night for $120... tomorrow I'll add some more bracing and get the wheels bolted on..

the plan is get it a bit more mobile in the shop, finish my redo of the Dungeon, meaning install new lights, pick up and start using my bank of file cabinets for storage from my friends house....

2 of these low fockers... I'll stack one on top of the other...

in the process of working on the Dungeon and getting organized post-Sandy, I'm gonna get the K5 cleaned out and back up to where I left it off...

first real project will be finishing off the cowl hood, body work....

and reevaluating what I'm gonna run for suspension, right now I'm leaning toward leafs up front and linked rear.... no real thought put to it yet...

oh, and when i get my tube order in for Mutt's tubebed, I'll add a stick to do the rear bumper/tire carrier on this...

I'll recycle the steel at some point for a stand for my lathe, or maybe a fab table...

it's just gonna be nice to be able to shift the rig around as need be, couple feet this way, etc..

I'm actually gonna try to get a bit of work in on this over the winter.. not so much money, but at least some time..

Pull it out into the daylight!!!

It would be great to see a few "long shots" of it finally.... With these small garage builds it seems like every photo we get is less than 10 feet away and it's impossible to get the big picture impression of things.

It's a great adrenaline rush too..... Take my word on that. :waytogo:

yup, your the first person I thought of... :haha:

I know, I know.. I'm contemplating it... heck, I'd like to just change bays to change it up a bit! :haha:

neither would be easy tho... if I push it outside, i'd have to ratchet strap it back over the door lip... they're 6" wheels... and only 2 spin 360.. the other 2 are fixed.. i wish all four spun... but it's what i got..

and swapping bays is tough due to a pole..

**** it, I'm gonna bring it outside if feasable....

Um....

Drop two concrete anchors, one for each bay - Up at the front wall - That you can screw heavy eye-bolts into when needed. Secure a snatch block and use Mutt to pull the dolly back inside your choice of bay.

Don't ask how this idea became a proven improvision.

With these small garage builds it

Shades of "Four Yorkshiremen" ... "At least you have a garage". I'm building mine in the yard. Yard? You're luck to have yard... my truck is middle of t'road!

The Marty Feldman version is IMO the best:

You Might Be A CK5'er If ... you have to use recovery techniques in your own garage. :woot:

I categorically deny some very creative use of a chain hoist hooked sideways to a Blazer to pull the sixpack when its motor was seized ... I'm just sayin'...

raining today.. next weekend I'll see about bringing it outside if I can...

floorjack and lumber in the back and a cherry picker picking up the stinger on the front bumper...

Just curious....what does the body weigh as it sits?

no hardtop, axles, tires, suspension, or trans effectively, just a mock up case... on the otherhand, it has about 500 lb's of tube and a winch added to that body.. I'd guess there's between 3200 and 3500 pounds there.. just a guess tho..
