Can't wait to see the progress on the k5!!!!

glad I caught you at just the right time....that timed out perfectly....when you are busy, you are busy...

I'm gonna build a movable stand for it... wheels at one end.. that's the way I'm gonna do my new fab table too...

I should probably start a thread in "tools", but f*ck it, I'm lazy... get this thread warmed up again dammit!!! :haha: :woot:

soon for the K5.... :deal:

need a belt, and chuck.... belt i should have.... chuck, I'm shopping.. they ain't cheap, used eghey stuff runs 50 to 100 pretty consistently.. and obviously MUCH more...

main goal is to get a belt on and get it up and spinning, lubed and smooth...... than I'll work on the tool holder, etc.. i do have another small box of parts...

here it is after the initial cleaning...

my kingdom for a blast cabinet right now... :doah: :doah: :doah:

spins nice.. seems smooth and tight.. need a shorter belt tho....

actually, it's been 1.5 yrs.. haven't worked on it since last summer.. I'm glad tho, so happy to be DDing a square body again with Mutt..

I'm really getting motivated to work on it... really have no desire to touch Mutt again till the weather breaks in the spring at this point.. drive it, and keep my work to projects in the garage.. lathe, K5, lights, Dungeon evolution, etc, yada...

definitely gonna clean out the K5 and maybe pull it outside this weekend, tho I'm working satyurday...

oh, the back has been HEAVILY shredded the last couple months or so.. it felt great all summer, but as soon as I started hauling outdrives around in the fall, it was fubar'd again... :doah:

I'm nearly crippled every day by the time I crawl out of there.. but whatever... :screwy:still putting in at least a few hr's every night down in the Dungeon...

it looks so much better down there now, I'm considering a tv, decent chair and maybe a comp of some sort down there... :haha:

yay, we're back... :haha:

so.... in a "I'm a good human" kinda move, our illustrious mod Greg inadvertantly reminded me of how stooopid I can be... :haha:

he sent me 4 killer caster wheels for my K5 cradle so it would turn a bit better and such.. :waytogo:

so... they are 2" taller than the old wheels... I went down last night to see how that would affect things, mainly clearance under my garage door tracks... well, it'll clear the tracks, but it was at this point I realized that the height the cradle is now,

won't let the K5 out the door... :doah: not even close... needless to say, Greg's wheels will make that aspect even worse...

honestly, getting it out the door was totally not on my brain when I started this, moving around the shop was... the cradle was made about 1" lower than the wooden stands.. I thought I would keep it the same general height, as that should be about final ride height.. and I thought that would be advantageous when it came time to mocking up suspension..

lowering the cradle is out of the question.. in my infinite dumbdom, the bracing does not allow it easily whatsoever...

so, it looks like the rig is stuck inside until it's debut nearly.. but with Greg generous new casters on, I should be able to have it spin pirouettes in the Dungeon easy enough... :haha:

Nice casters rock! Yes making a low rider will take a little more fabbin. Iv'e had to do that with big gang boxes on jobsites to get them into the manlift. Cradle underneath 6X6 angle at the corners, got the ride hieght just low enough to get in manlift.

yeah, I'm not particularly concerned with getting the rig outside.. yes, it would be nice.. and convenient for a floor overcoat or something, but it isn't critical... I'll install the casters tomorrow so it rolls easy in the shop...

bouncing all over.. getting the dungeon organized and put away, the lathe is completely taken apart for final cleaning, painting, lubing, and have the casters to do... I'll be working on those 3 things tomorrow..

Having it at ride height should be nice for lots of stuff.

Spinning it around is almost as good as being able to move it outside in all reality.

I need to do some thing similar to get my other blazer body in the garage sometime but be able to move it around as needed

Paul,

It was my pleasure to help you out in some small way.... You've certainly given the rest of this community LOTS of helpful advice over the years. In fact, I gotta believe that every time you see a build here sprayed in zinc chromate (Ryoken Green) you can be sure that they are subscribed to this build thread! :D

Pirouettes it the garage will be cool. Looking forward to some fresh new photo angles in the future! :waytogo:

Sheeit....

Weld the dolly to the frame, throw on 48 shocks, and some 60's..... Ya got a CL special!

:haha::haha::haha:

In all seriousness, Paul.... That's a sweet dolly, and a cool idea.

lathe, fully disassembled and most parts painted Hunter Green...
