gonna get it cleaned out this week...
 
oh, and that material worked out VERY nicely... the 14g kept the weight down to VERY reasonable.. tho unwieldy, I can pick this up by deadlift pretty easily.. I'd say it's finish weight was around 80 to 90 lb's...

it rolls around good... but 4 spinners would have been way faster manuevering...

I can actually get it parked side to side in the shop, in front of both doors.. with the shop space to the back.. i may try that next weekend if the weather is good..
 
yup, I miss working on it.... now that the dungeon is clean, I REALLY want to... plenty of partless, labor to be done on it too... gonna ease back into it... basically I haven't touched it in 15 months or so.... :eek1: :doah: :(

but wanna keep getting some dungeon time in tho.. next up is new lights... a revived dungeon should help in the motivation factor...
 
how stable is it? from the pics it looks top heavy (although I'm sure you've got it figured out). sure would suck to knock it over while rolling it around!
 
I c-clamped it to the rails.. stable as he!!... I was shoving it around pretty good before.. basically it's 3' x 12' x 30".....
 
right on. I figured you were smarter than I was giving you credit for. me on the other hand... I'd have probably pushed it over once before I figured it out. lol
 
I'm sure you've hit a rock on a skate board before:rolleyes: I'd make sure theres no nuts or bols on the floor before you shove it sideways:doah:.


Dungeon looks good and the dolly is going to be a big help :thumb:

I cant tell from the picture, but is that a steel beam or a wooden beam?

My attached garage has the same thing with a wooden beam and the pole in the center. I bought a 1/2in steel plate that was 22ft long and bolted it to the wooden beam with lag bolts and could remove the pole. This obviously wont work if your living room is on top of your garage or that pole is steel, but just a thought.

oh that reminds me, need to bring the cowl hood for the K5 back down from the "warehouse" for glass work...
 
I think it's a late 30's Atlas/Craftsman...

needs a chuck and a motor...

so, this is a 1938 Atlas/Craftsman 101.07383 12" lathe....

think I'll start with a 6" 3 jaw chuck...

why would you want a reversing motor on a lathe? I thought you only cut in one direction? but I can see a variable speed, one direction motor being useful..

obviously I know less than nothing about metal lathes and their proper operation.. some reading material is certainly needed...
