87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

:haha:

tell ya what, cubic inch-wise, 2 piggybacked right next to each other would still be smaller than factory... I'd run a front and rear if I had a burb probably... :haha:

The only thing is, unless you come up with some custom diverter/door kinda thing, you'll be running the defrost and floor all the time.. which is what I intend to do, simple and clean..

very happy with the engineering in this.. as solid a way to do it that I could think of...

still have a TON of welding to do.... ends need to be cut and capped too.. need to do a couple rust patches on the sill area.. fab an inner rocker, yada, yada.... but it's progress and the other side should go quicker.......

then I finish bending the cage.. then the floor/tunnel...

Paul, a couple questions:

A)does the body want to sag on the A pillar supports right now, or is the firewall supporting it on the frame (am I looking at those right?)

b)are you tieing in the new floor to the new supports also to make everything more "STOUT"?

c)watch that Molson Ice.....last time I had it, it kicked my ass.....didn't know when to quit I guess....but man they went down so good.

I like questions....

A - all the weight of the cab is on that support, with no sag.. even with no bolt in the bodymount, perfectly level.. that 16" x 2 x 4 effectively replaces the stock stamped sheetmetal, 3 sided support under the factory sheetmetal..

B - and yeah, the whole floor will be tied into those.. it's the basis... the floor will sit right on the top of the supports..

the rise for the cargo area, floor will come straight up from the back edge of the rear support... well actually it'll start from the bottom of the support, and be plug welded to the backside of the support.. the floor will be plugwelded to the top of the support, similar to the construction I did in the back...

like this..

floorlevel.jpg

as you can see, the floor level will be maintained across the door area... the inner rocker will form this wall... so it'll look like this with the door open...

doorlevel.jpg

I want it this way for easy fab, and easy rinse out of the truck.. I will cut the stock door weatherstripping so it doesn't go across the bottom, and supplement it with a bottom piece on the door...

the front floor lines will look something like this.....

C - boy, they're tasty! :haha: it's been my chugging replacement beer for Bud for about 12 yrs now... I just sometimes forget they're about twice as potent... I'm actually glad to be back drinking beers, work has gotten soooooo bad, I had probably gone thru 20 gallons of bourbon the last 6 months... had to cut back on that, it was getting out of control... :o

oh, one other thing... the 4 cab body mount bolts will be maintained thru the cab floor... I'll probably just tackweld the boltheads to the floor...

I was originally gonna sleeve the supports at those holes, but figured I was already waaaaay overkill... not necessary.

daaayyyuuuummmm.....glad your still with us:D

thanks for the pics with fill in lines, helps my foggy brain see better.

so with all this added support, you making this thing a full vert?

nope... for as badarse as the full verts are, it's just not on my priority/want list...

the floors/sliders needed to be done, so this seemed a logical step (well, in my OC head, at least), as opposed to some quickie, throw sheetmetal on it approach that so many would take.. make it clean and bulletproof right off the bat.. pretty sure thats a slider setup that can take some abuse...

actually, I can't believe I've never seen this done... if your gonna do a whole floor, why leave crusty, stamped supports under it with that lousy captured nut gig up front...

it's a ton of work, but I'll be glad I did it a few months from now.. I'm just anxious to get to the cage work, but I needed to do this first...

He had a smiley! You've made more progress on your truck then I probably ever will. Plus your attention to detail and ingenuity is simply amazing. I love your build thread and check it every time I get a chance. It's an inspiration to everyone! Keep up the good work!:waytogo:

ya know the internet, sarcasm and all that... sometimes it goes over my head.... :o

and thanks mang, preciate that.. I do pound a ton of hrs on it, probably had 20 in it this weekend.. just need to motivate myself to do more during the week....

and yup, they are never done.... :doah::haha:

While they are never done, my point was that this project will be done soon, or at least it is starting to show the light at the end of the tunnel.

Is this the Oprah forum now?

I post there also and this is very similar
