87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

Thanks man... :D

Convoy Gold... A Dupont color.. Tho it's really an orangy copper.. shooting chromabase with Imron clear over top...

The truck was original dark brown with the white 2-tone..

Really hated the white, so I changed that out to the copper color... with a platinum stripe.. looks good,

but the plan is to go all copper.. With satin black cap, tube bumpers, visor, mirrors, rims, etc...

Carrying the black/copper theme of the dash to the whole truck.....

Looking somewhat like a truck again...

next up, the electronics box..... :deal:

And a Happy New Year to everyone! :D

Anyone have any comments, criticisms, questions on the setup so far? I can always count on this place for thinking "outside the box"... :ears:

So far I'm very happy with how it's turning out... Battery box turned out super solid and I think it's gonna anchor a bullet-proof electrical system.. .. The picture in my head is coming together... :smirk:

Ran out of battery lugs this morn, so I can't finish the 1/0 cabling.. Did get some 4 gauge done tho... charge wire to alternator...

Really need to get the box built quick so I can finish up that corner.. I'm actually considering a tupperware piece until I fab the box so I can get all the wiring done for the solenoid, relays and breakers..

Putting in a pretty trick overflow bottle today I had floating around... pics later...

Man, maybe I'll clean up the motor today, things filthy.... :doah: :haha:

man, when can I bring my truck to joisey?

Looking good man!

Haha, I'm gonna bungee a tupperware container in there for a week or so... :wink1:

Good morning/afternoon/applicable greeting to you my Brit friend!

And yeah, the color does look very similar... Tho after taking a quick peek at the Dodge, I'm betting it's got some pearl in the formula.. Haven't looked at my formula, but it's more than likely standard metallics... Boy, I miss having a mixing machine at my disposal, used to come up with some badarse colors! :doah:

Been putting a bunch of hrs into the truck this week... My neighbors must be hating me, the grinding, welding and compressor haven't stopped for 3 days! :haha:

Phase 1 is almost complete... I'll post some pics over the next couple days... Sad thing is, phase 2 and 3 are even more involved... :doah:

Is that a Mojave Heater?

Had an old vacuum canister floating around the attic somebody hooked me up with years ago... Decided to put it to use and am converting it to an overflow.. need a petcock for the bottom hole and something for a vent up top... Fits good tho...

Man, that bad fan clutch hammered my radiator from the overheating it was doing... Need to clean that up... :( :o

Finally got my coolant clean after a couple dozen muriatic bathes on the block.. The previous owner ran it for a year with water in it...

Well, much of the wiring is done.. But I'm waiting on composite for the box.. Gotta run out sunday and pick it up...

In the meantime, while running wire today for the headlight relay mod, I come across this... :eek1:

Since I have to start driving the truck again tommorrow, I was forced to do a temporary gig on the wiring... Once I get the composite box built, I'll be redoing all the switching, etc over in the corner...

here's a couple stupid pics to give you some visual entertainment...

killer cabling, uglyarse starter...

starter1.jpg

my quickie, temporary panel till I finish the box... just running the cab breaker, 2 h-light breakers and the 2 h-light relays under it..

paneltemp.jpg

the box will also get the fan breakers/relays, proper ground post, the start solenoid and bat switch you see below, and some other toys...

Please excuse the clusterf*ck, as this corner will basically be rewired when it all goes in the box... Haha, I was actually gonna just throw it all in this plastic tacklebox I had of the appropriate size... :doah: :haha:

cornertemp1.jpg

One other thing to mention... I did the h-light relay mod up there using 10 g to feed the lights, grounds, etc... WOW! what a difference! Must be 25% brighter.. Outstanding mod!

Hopefully more to come next weekend.... :wink1:

Oh, here's one of the dash going back together... The leftside will have fuel and oil pressure up top, with volt #1 and volt #2 below it (finishing up painting the bezels on 2)

the rightside will be water temp, oil temp and trans temp.. still need to pop a hole for the trans temp...

dashtemp.jpg

not sure what to run in that last slot under the oil temp.. Wanted to run an A/F gauge, but since they don't make one in a 2 5/8's, only the smaller series 2 1/16, I've considered a Pyrometer.. They do make that in the Pro Comps, but from what I know, the pyrometers aren't quite as valuable for tuning as an A/F.... I'll have to see down the road what I want to do...

Oh, and the hole my heat controls where in, was originally thinking of throwing a CB in there. But it turns out the hole is the perfect size for more of the contura switches that are on the left.. so I may throw the CB in the console, and run another bank of 5 conturas over there..

Thanks man....

I kinda hated to post 1/2ass stuff, especially wiring.... But if you can picture it with all that stuff in the "black box" I'm doing, it should be pretty trick in the end..

You should have seen the sh*teating grin I had on my face the whole time I was eliminating all the fusable links.... "Arghhhh, take that, ye bad GM engineering!" :haha:

look good as always, man....expect a pm from me down the road on some of that stuff;)
