look into the 95-98 seats, the driver is power and they have flat mounting...I have picked up 3 sets over the last few years for under 250.00

then there is the 00-03 seats, they have the seat belt intergrated..from what I found out some of the full power seats from after those years have a seperate computer to control them that adds issues to the swap.

Very, very good info for most in here, pay attention people! :wink1:

As for me, I have my brain set on some simple, cleanable, suspension aftermarkets... Probably PRP or Corbeau... I'd love a set of Beards tho... Just a slider on the driverside...

i like the corbeaus!!!!

you could always get these

:haha:

Heck, you could get 4 Corbeau's for the price of a pair of Beards... :eek1: :doah: :eek1:  :eek1: :haha: Nice stuff tho...

I think in the end, I'll go PRP, more customizable than Corbeau...... It'll be my x-mas present to myself..

To start with I want to say that looks awesome, you do some great work. I have made it most of the way through this thread and I may have missed this question being asked but here it goes:

Q......Have you thought about heat build up in that box? I would not think it would get to hot but with it being water tight it should be air tight as well. With as many relays, solenoids, and etc. in that space and no air flow/movement do you think it may heat up? That could be you extra guage? A temp guage for your wiring box? Not sure how you could get airflow and keep it water tight though. Just my thoughts, I will read on now and most likely see the answer to my question.

Your work is Killer! Had to say it again.

hey thanks man, means alot... :D

Thats an interesting question you raise...

My thought is, no, heat wont be an issue.. Here's my train of thought... First personal experience, I see tons of electronic setups in boats that are watertight, confined, etc and it's rarely an issue for them... And alot of those have components that will actually heat up to some extent... As a matter of fact, today I was working on an enclosed system under plexi with a couple big slaves and a nasty series/parellel solenoid...

Nothing I have in the box at the moment really puts much out... I can't see relays really putting heat out of any significance, the slave solenoid and ACR might put a minor amount out when in a "closed" position, but they are not continuous and are only that way for moments on occasion...

The only item in the box that may be an issue is the welding rig... It's really just the control box. doesn't look like it needs ventilation from the pics, but thats pretty far down the road... I'm more concerned with having room for it...

I know it has been brought up about condensation being a possible concern, and I'm sure a certain % of moisture will be in there.. But I thought it might be a good idea to take a few of those pouches they put in with electronics for moisture and just tuck them in the corner to combat that... But even that, I think is pretty overkill... Considering what "standard" installs go thru weather/corrosion wise...

Thanks for the question... Discussing tech stuff is so fun...

Anyone have any questions, criticisms, etc, feel free...

Btw, body tech for those that didn't already know... zinc chromate on the bare stuff, then the tan epoxy primer.... hopefully paint pics sunday!! :saweet: :woot: :saweet:

On your box.... Do you have any sort of vent for pressure equalization? Not an issue on a boat, it doesn't change elevation much, but what happens if you drive from the coast up into the hills?

What kinda adverse affect would that have?

Not that I see real high elevations... Think the most I've been up to is like 4000'....

go with the corbaues.. "sp" cant ever remember how to spell that..

at any rate im on my second set, they seriously were in the arizona sun on and off for five years and are still in decent shape! I even had a rig land on my seat while trying to drive on my cab once..seat held up while my steering wheel was toast.:D

at 159-169 shipped..well the price is great:D

I got the vinal/cloth combo, easy clean up and really comfy

i ordered mine from porc on pirate if I remember right, also their rear benches are only 299.00..that 100 bucks cheaper than the others. they were dropped shipped and showed up in 2-3 days both times. the rear beanch if you were to get the 36 inch one leaves all kinds of neat side storage ideas...

I will vouche for the corbeu ultra SS seats. I rode most of the day in one, in a VW suspended sand rail (read rough ride) but I wasnt sore or anything thanks to that seat. Very comfy even for a fat guy like me, at 6' 230lbs.

Looks awesome as usual, good work man.

You won't be able to open it, if the seal is really that tight. That's why Pelican cases have one way valves.

Here's my thoughts on the seats.... Tho the idea of a good seat at $160 sounds awesome to me, my prob with the Corbeau Baja's is this... I'm pretty certain those baja's are gonna be WAY small for me.. The ultra's are an inch wider, with a wider version available too.. I'd wanna go for that one... BUT the wider Ultra's are like $255..

At that point, I think I'll go PRP.. The new Rhino series are at $229....

Oh, and there will be no backseat....

I suppose I could add a check valve if I find that to be an issue...

And just for record.. The box is far from airtight at this point... Even when done, I'm pretty sure some water would work its way in if it where submerged.. The goal was more to isolate all that stuff from water splash, etc under normal use... If Ryoken's rig turns into a submarine, I'm thinking that'll be the least of my issues.... :wink1:

Btw, just a little observation on my part... After cutting and fitting the back floor section, I've decided that the 14 gauge is PLENTY of beef for a floor... Seriously stout piece of floor.... pics to follow..

For anyone considering 1/8", I really don't think ya need/want it... Thats beyond overkill, and just excessive weight....

My other project, at my cousins house, that I havent touched in 2 years, is a 69 VW beatle. I used 16g to replace th floors, SERIOUSLY BEEFY, specialy compaired to the surounding metal. So much thicker than the original sheetmetal that I ended up welding on a 3" pan lift all the way around, so that I could get good welds on the 16g floor. If I ever get around to that project again it should be a seriously beefy platform for a baja bug. Add a 8 or 10 pt cage to it and it will be indestrutable. Ever seen a subaru rally car thats been rolled? Sheet metal is all that gets damaged.

Now factor in the suports under your floor and it should be plenty strong, and take forever to rust through. IF rust ever does get its teeth in it. It sounds like you have rust prevention handled though.

I think its time for more pics?
