87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

the trans fittings are the ones linked to in YOUR thread.. from SweetPerformance.com

And you gave me a hard time when I made my own fittings then you go buy something similar to what I've made.
I think I'm going to buy those fittings also since the color matches the rest of my AN fittings.

pretty sure I didn't give you a "hard time", just relayed my experience with the npt's....

What I find ironic is that TCI, a freakin trans company has em listed as NPT... I just assumed they where right.. I just read it was NPT, put the fitting in and it was fine.. I honestly didn't look at the taper, the trans was in the truck... I didn't learn till later they where straight..

I used to run NPT in the 400 in my chevelle for a decade with npt, without a drop.. I tend to think this may be a "it could happen" thing... but that is the cardinal rule for npt anyway, not to overtighten or it can crack, nature of the beast...

I play with sooooo much npt at work it isn't funny.. boats are FULL of them, from cooling systems, to sinks, seacocks, etc..

anyway, I figured since I'm going with a $2000 tranny, I'll do my best to be 100% correct..

btw, I've decided not to build my 700, due to time constraints and time better spent on other projects...

I've decided to go with the stage 3, manual valve body from BTO... http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...php?ITEMID=653

I know, I was just a little butt hurt after I spent so much time on mine. I didn't want to hear any thing I considered criticize or doubt.
BTW, I’ve read in a Machinist Hand book that the straight pipe thread not ideal for fluid transfer. Just for low pressure only and is interchangeable to taper pipe with sealant.
Which begs the question, why did GM put straight pipe on the transmission cooler fittings. This is something Ford would do.

hmmm, interesting.. good info.... Guess I'll see what BTO wants me to put in there...

and  to you for the skills to make them... Being a machinist is actually kind of a dream job for me.. Tho I might say differently if I actually did it for a living.. :doah::wink1: They keep talking about getting me a bridgeport at work, I'm still waiting...

I've been shopping for a small lathe to fool around with at home...

Like I said in my thread, I'm not proficient with the manual stuff, but I get by. I mostly load a CNC machine and make adjustment if need be.
BTW, I've been reading your thread for a while and I'm very impressed with the work you do. You've inspired me to do a better job with my blazer.

hey thanks man.... I cut my corners too, but I try to do quality, innovative work most of the time... Attention to Detail.. funny, I ran a company called that for a while..

If I've helped, inspired or motivated anyone, thats awesome... a bonus to the whole process...

some of the parts after baking... I'll be overcoating most of the black with a flattened version of the same as I assemble...

Now that's just sexy.

EDIT: Also, what was your reasoning for painting the brake rotors? I can't recall ever seeing anybody do that. Also, will your painted axle shafts still spline in fine?

the axle splines aren't painted.. I let a pisscoat of the zinc hit the splines, for rust protection till assembly, but I'll clean it off with thinner before assembly..

the rotors, hmmm, I'm surprised, yet not surprised, you've never seen that.. yup, 95% of the average public doesn't care what it's gonna look like in a year, they just hope it works right... But they're brand new rotors, why not protect the bare cast steel and not let it turn into a ball of rust in 6 months? pretty standard procedure in the resto shop I worked at... I dont know about anybody else, but I despise working on rusty vehicles...

hmmm, lots o views and little comment.. I'm guessing, people dont care for the color combo... the orange doesn't seem to have photoed too well.. I'm happy with the razorbacks, think they should look pretty bada$$ once under the truck...

Where I live orange is a 4 letter word. What with Tenn, Florida, and Auburn here in the SEC. Them is fightin words:D

But it does look pimp:pimp::pimp1:. With all the work you're doing, I think you damn sure need to submit it to Petersons and 4WOR when you're done for a cover spread. I'd really like to see a well built K5, like yours, gracing the pages instead of some sissy-fied POS Super Duty on 46s with 30in of lift splashing through a little mud puddle (To which you know the owner had a sh&t fit afterwards prob).

Anyway, pardon my rant :), and I'm really looking forward to your build. I'm sure alot of people are watching your thread with excitement for the build. We're just impatient and want more pics and progress:). Quit working so damn much and take so time off to put all these parts on:haha:. We wanna see it

thanks... :D it does seem like the orange is brighter or lighter in the photos, as opposed to looking at em in person... I'm guessing its the flash..

And I whole-heartedly agree with the rant... Sometimes ya look at the trucks and think "I coulda built it better"

It should roll out pretty show-quality in what I've done I suppose, but I certainly wont let that affect me beating the snot out of it.... I'm not afraid of dents...

I'm also optimistic that it should be pretty capable, for a 75% street driven truck.. mechanically, it's gonna be STOUT... really the only thing I'm not making bullet-proof is the motor..

And you guys will definitely be getting frequent pics over the next couple months, I plan to stay consistent on it...

on another note, picked up my box tube for the x-member today... question thread to follow in the garage...

subscribed. That is looking sweet! Can't wait to see more after I catch up.

I'm always surprised in this thread. I love lookin at my subscribed threads and see this one up there. I know theres gonna be something in here i wanna do :haha:

Looks good man and am anxiously awaiting more

thanks boys! I try to keep ya entertained.... :haha:

There's definitely something funky to this orange and the flash, you can really see it freakin in this shot... :haha: god, this camera sucks... :doah:

With those on it will look like you are running lava as differential fluid. :D

Well one things for sure. Everyone on the roads will see you coming even if you have your headlights off in the dark :D

It's like an nightly offfroad recovery vehicle :haha:

haha, now thats some funny sh*t there..

well I'll leave it for now... maybe when I do the drivetrain I'll rehit these in a shade darker... that may be a bit bright for a drivetrain... :wink1::haha: it actually looks cool matched up next to the copper and black...

and I'm also planning on just a few items in the orange... drivetrain, crossover parts, rear disc brackets and what you've seen...
