87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

I try to keep from subjecting my neighbors to the noise... my next door neighbors house is 10' away..

when I'm running air tools it gets annoyingly loud with the oilless compressor and the grinder going, etc...

I'd drive em crazy.... And their cool, so I try to be reciprocal...
Unfortunately, I have no doors to shut, so my neighbors hear everything I do :crazy:

Put my house on 10 acres in the middle of nowhere and I'd be golden! :haha:

ok, not a huge update...

did alot of "not so sexy" work this weekend... I'm prepping all the interior sheetmetal.. so it's done and in primer when the cage goes back in for final welding...

mig'd up all the screw holes, as I wont be running interior trim... migged up all the seatbolt holes on the b-pillar... filled the vent to the cowl, visor mounts, etc... a little mud and primer tomorrow...

Also cut and smoothed my wire chase hole...

next week I should have all the sheetmetal in zinc and get the existing cage tubes back in and final welded...

why block off the cowel vent? i love that in the summer time cruising around you get air blowing at your feet. Its great especially since I dont have any insulation on my floor, so it can get hot.

yup, my overhead console stuff... from the glovebox, up the pass-side a-pillar, thru that hole and out the middle of the windshield tube...

got some pretty killer wire covering at work that I'm gonna run over the whole bunch thru the tube...

I have my reasons.... :D

figured I'd trim out the bumper for final install, tho I still need to add the 4 1.5" side pieces when I get the die... as it sits, with the skid installed, it's about 110 lbs... so figure 120, 125 when done...

now I can assemble the front suspension and get the cage back in and welded.... :saweet::woot:

Thanks... more tedious, needs to be done in a certain order, kinda stuff...

all that black work is really just a trim coat for assembling parts... once the front is assembled, bumper, springs, x member, box, etc, I'll be sanding and overcoating all the black stuff with it's final black satin imron coat.. I'll do that when I paint the ceiling and interior sheetmetal, which is also all getting the satin imron...

sheesh....... :crazy::haha:

I just constempated ditching all the copper, and doing the exterior sheetmetal in the satin black Imron.... :doah::haha:

I've done a buffed out satin black with it before, pretty sick looking.. kinda ratroddish... like a bulletproof black epoxy primer kinda thing...

hmmmm, all satin black, with chevy orange drivetrain, cage and a few select suspension parts... with the Weld wheels...

could look pretty cool..... :thinking::thinking::thinking::confused:

one of the crossover words for contemplate and constipate... :wink1: We use that one at work all the time! :haha:

I'll mull this one over, I've got some time to decide... in some ways, it's a TON less work, just blast everything, and in some ways, it's a pain..... I'd have to commit at some point and mix up a couple gallons of the satin... not one you wanna do batch to batch...

ok, I've added a poll to this thread... I'd really appreciate everyones opinion..

sorry, no nekkid option, hmmmm, cleared steel, Delorean look? nah.....

When you say buffed out a satin finish do you mean the hot rod look that (bear with me as I try to explain what I see)

Looks like flat black that has been waxed. Thats the only way I know how to explain the rat rod look I LOVE. A dull shine if you will.:haha:Or painted with a black crayon on a hot day.

If thats what your thinking the I say YES do it.

hmmm, 2.5", cool.....

at this point, I have no idea how the defrost is going to go.... I'm not sure I can use the old big plastic Y up to it.... the cage is gonna dictate that....

bookmarked, thanks! :bow:

as for color.... yeah, it's a little hard to describe, it's pretty sick looking on exterior sheetmetal.. and yeah, I guess it could be described as shiny flat... a regular paint job finish, but satin... maintained like a regular paint.. wax, etc.... thats why I describe it as satin... maybe a dull shine would be better... ya run about 15% flattening agent to flatten it out...

something for me to ponder this week.... while I'm welding up the cage! :saweet::weld::woot::weld::saweet:
