:haha::haha::haha:

not exactly innovative! :doah:

eh, I'm looking for a happy medium from the suspension for now.. hoping it flexes decent...

I was expecting to find 9 leaf monstrosities that I'd be pulling leaves from... quick sandblast and paint and these are going in...

from a 2 wd 89 burb apparently... thanks to Jake for these, real stand up guy... :D

89 2wd Burb you say... I have a 90 2wd 'burb parts truck ($250). I'll have to remember to keep the springs for future use.
*/hijack*

Keep up the good work! I have been reading along through your progress and it is top notch! VERY inspiring! Thank you!

thanks man.... :D

been working on it almost every night after work for about an hr or 2... finding i can get a lot done mon thru fri that way..

the way it's looking now, hopefully I'll have all the cab/cage/floor stuff being seam sealed, final primed and ready for paint by the end of november...

then I can finally start getting the axles under it, etc... :saweet:

I think that helps alot too Paul, I've been getting home from work about midnight and putting in an hour or two, instead of watching TV. Then I try to put in 2-3 more the next day before going to work. I got a 4 day weekend so should be able to get something done this weekend. I also snuck my oil pan into work tonight to use the sandblasting cabinet in the shop....he he.

ya gotta love that stuff... :wink1: lost access to a blast cabinet, but I have my blaster when push comes to shove...

I come home, I don't even come upstairs, go right in the garage.... the minute I eat and park my butt in front of the comp or couch up here, I'm useless... :doah::haha:

actually, since I quit smoking, I find myself down there at 10 o-clock at night these days, sorting screws, washers, bolts, etc.. yes, I've begun... :crazy: musta had 2 or 3, 5 gallons buckets worth of that stuff all over the garage in various coffee cans, etc..... second stage will be breaking it down into locks, flats, fine, course, yada....

I hear ya there, I did that a few years ago, and still didn't have what I wanted, or I had to clean it, or it was a 1/2" to long or whatever, so I went to Tractor supply and bought about 200$ worth of Grade 8 stuff, and put them into some bins. I really like that now.

well, thats stage 3 and 4... :haha:

first is to get my stuff split up... then get proper storage.. then supplement mine with an infusion from, I'm thinking, McMaster (the bible as we call it at work).. really dont have a tractor supply within a couple hrs of me.. and I've been pretty pleased with McMaster's hardware pricing and selection...

McMaster Carr has had every piece of odd ball hardware that I've ever needed. :bow:

great, now I'll be up 1/2 the night looking up hardware, thanks alot!! :rolleyes:

awesome link, thanks... :D

How do I miss threads like this that are going on for sooo long????

Your cage is rig is turning out killer!

Paul,
I was going to ask if you got the springs, but never mind! They were out of a 89 4X4 V1500 Burb. They should flex good cause they were to soft, I swapped in 3/4 ton springs. I can say I had a part in your rig, I am always checking in to see your progress. Good luck!

it's getting bad these days, I'm having dreams about the truck... :crazy: at least I know what it's gonna look like! :eek1::D

I wonder if I could sell a spleen, maybe a kidney? :confused: something.... people buy that stuff, right?!!? :wink1:

Jake, ya need anything from me, just holla... thanks for being an honest dude, I appreciate that... :D

Well shoot, non-innovative stuff would be my only chance to beat you to something. :doah::doah::doah::waytogo:

eh, thanks, I'm just a hotrodder like you guys... :bow: tons of great stuff and inspiration that i watch going on around here..... I'm just trying to put some of my ideas to many proven formulas...

I will say this.... :thinking: alot of the older guys on this forum might feel the same as me on this... it's a pretty strange thing to receive accolades and the thumbs up on the internet..

people in Europe and Cali, etc, seeing my rig? I've been doing stuff like this for about 30 yrs, in such a small, little slice of the world..... :crazy:

fun stuff..... thanks to CK5 for making this more than my own little selfish endeavor..... :bow:

well, I'm gonna hold off on a real update till sunday.... the cage is pretty much done... couple odds and ends to finish up... hopefully I'll be getting the drivers floor in sunday... tunnel the next..

but I figure I'll throw these up for sh*ts and giggles.... last week after shifting the truck over in the garage..... nice to not have the tailgate pinned up against the garage door for a change! :haha:

oh, and no, the softtop doesn't lay down well with the cage... :(

I knew it wouldn't, I'll deal with it somehow... :crazy: as people with the same top could confirm, the 2 bows lay down to far forward on the bedrail to go "behind" the cage c-post and lay flat on the bedrail..

they hit the cage about 6"s above the bedrail... it might not work, i don't know.... easy enough to put quick pins in the bows, pull em and stow the top and 2 bows in the bed i'd guess.. i'll figure something out...
