87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

I'm surprised you didn't come up with somethig yourself.

That seems like a pretty decent product though. So it's $33 for each frame tie in point on the cage?? Yikes :eek1:

yeah, that batch of 4 cost me like $150 shipped.. ouch.....

i had seen those awhile back and liked em.. they where what i was looking for, cause i don't wanna weld to my frame...... figured i'd splurge and save a little fabwork for myself....

if they where $25 a piece, i wouldn't have batted an eye... $33 each hurt...

How do you tie them to the frame if your not welding? It looks like the item description shows the tubing welded to the frame?
I'm not following this so good?

right.. I'm gonna run it the opposite way... my tube will be welded to my lower staked flanges on the cage, welded to the bushing tube, bracket bolted to the frame...

ahh, thats it. I was just reading backwards:D

thats some cool stuff. How do you get anything done, when your always looking at, and thinking up all this trick stuff?

that's the easy part, figuring out how to do it without a metal/machine shop, or a trust fund, is the hard part.... :wink1:

being single again and not being much of a sleeper has it's advantages... :doah::crazy::(:haha: alot of times when I'm up at 5, I'll just go down with my coffee, put some tunes on, and get creative... figure out what I think would be cool...

I'm VERY used to hotrods, this is only the second truck I've done... The first was much more what most build... a bashed up 78 Power Wagon, back in the mid 80's.. threw one of my 340's in it, douched the whole truck in white Imron leftover from work, right over the dents and rust, 2 day paintjob in a dirt driveway... 4" lift and 36's...

alot of my Mopars and Chevelles had some pretty trick stuff in em tho... custom switch panels, bleach jets in the wheelwells, etc, etc...

I haven't posted here for a while, but I have sure been enjoying all the progress. :waytogo: Now if I could just get the money and motivation to do what needs to be done to Krusty. Preferably have both at the same time, but that doesn't seem to happen often.

I'm actually doing ok, with the cash right now... ok, not great.. i had a couple OT checks over the last month or 2, first i had all year...

i've got the budget pretty leaned out right now, pretty caught up.. bills, essentials, truck... thats it.. i'm putting in 1/2 my order with NWF tonight... $700ish.... then in a couple weeks, i'll order the hi-steer...

i've been trying to put time in, on the truck, and work, but it has been hard.. honestly, after quitting smoking, my health has gotten hammered! :doah::wink1: i've been a wreck the last couple months health-wise... really need to drag my stubborn arse in for a check-up....

:time to shrink the boats: :wink1:

that is a must Paul, you don't need to be getting all "out of commission" on us here.
We need ya man. Get to the doc.

thanks bro, will do... :D

it's that masochistic skater thing in me.....:crazy::crazy:

I once walked around on a fully torn ACL for 10 months... the doc just shook his head.... :haha:

boy, I just love ordering parts!!!! :wink1: twin stick and 205 stuff checked off the list... :woot:

i know all about the skater mentality.brake a bone,no problem.tear a muscle it'll heal.haha.i dont know how many times i hurt myself and just keep goin.im sure itll catch up to me eventually.haha.its kinda weird you get sicker by quitting smoking.it almost makes you want to go back.but not really.your body is still trying to cope without the same old stuff being in it.if it is gettin bad enough def go to the doc.dont wanna miss out on any fab work you have planned:bow:

yup, you are going to get hurt bad skating... thats why it's a brotherhood, it's blood, literally.... I've definitely given my body an abusive life so far.... paybacks are a b*tch! :doah::haha:

anyway, enough dinosaur woes from me....

who can school me on GPS stuff for my PC?

is it as simple as just hook up a GPS antenna to a usb port, and buy some software for the PC?

Yes.

Well, a GPS device to the USB port. SIRFStar III has been top of the line for a while. I haven't looked into it recently...

Yes...

ok, cool, thanks a bunch guys! that'll be simple when the time comes.. We push TONS of Garmin products for the boats at my yard... excellent products from what I've seen... I'll get a discount on any part too...

I'll have to call my buddy that runs a marine electronic supply place locally when the time comes... he'll get all into what I'm doing... :haha:

now if I can only figure out a way to glam one of those FLIR cameras off of the boats.....:whistle::haha:

I still can't believe the day has come where I'm installing infrared cameras on boats...

When you get to that point, make sure you verify that the drivers are available for Linux for whichever antenna you choose. Linux support has been growing steadily, so it shouldn't be an issue, but just double check before you spend your hard-earned $$$ only to find out it isn't recognized.
