87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

Ministry is one of my favorite bands, and I have a few others along the same lines that I like. Of course, if my garage ever gets completely setup, you will never know what you are going to hear next, I will just put 1 TB on random and see what happens.

I've got a decent setup down there.. a 25 yr old radio shack 6 disc changer that works killer... should for the $400 i paid for it back in the 80's! :haha:

2 big honking speakers.... could use a better reciever, volume control gets twitchy...

my bud just hooked me up with some fresh cd's to "refresh" my library... every Zep, Kings X, Badlands, Trouble and L7 ever released.. :saweet::saweet::saweet:

I wear out the L7's..... :haha:

Mine will be getting the Denon in the living room, once I convince the wife to let me buy a new one that can handle HD.

I didn't know anyone else even knew who Badlands was. I have 2 of their tapes in my Ford, it has a tape deck and cd, right now.:bow::bow:

I sometimes get very disapointed when i open this thread. When i open the garage forum and see this thread has new posts and Ryoken was the last poster i get very excited about what new and amazing pics i might see. Sometimes though....There are no pics. Although the discusions are key and a good read, i just love this build so much that i actualy get real excited when i think there has been a big update.

:bow::bow: to this build again

a little "pre-weekend" update.....

with, pics! :p:

pretty much figured out the pc box... here it is kinda mocked up without one of the side panels...

I'll be cutting the angle to size and lam-ing it into the corner...

there will be 2 more angles on the bottom... these will have tapped holes for 2 more countersinks for the side panels... should have that fitted up this weekend... also need to make the metal step for the top and the front panel..

I like it..everything is removable.. can access the compartment from the front, or either side... even the bottom/back piece that the PC and amp will be mounted to comes out......

tho, I'm pissed, 1/2 the day sunday I'll be doing a rad and brake job on the DD..:(:o:doah::haha:

I couldn't find it anyplace but there are a ton of pages but......

What material are you using to make those panels?
It looks like Hardie Backer Board or green board.

The details are awesome Paul....

I hate it when daily life intrudes on project time....

it's solid fiberglass... composite, machine extruded under 25 tons of pressure... stronger than steel pound for pound, impervious to weather, and it's also pretty expensive... that's 3/16 right there, ran me $200 a sheet for a 4' x 8'... i bought 3.... :wink1:

damn glad I didn't go with 1/4, for the "working" of it, weight and the cost... didn't need to anyway strength-wise.. you cant bend by hand any of those pieces.. stuff is incredo strong...

here's the main websites product page.... comes in all kinds of shapes, etc...

Now that is cool :waytogo:.

12 gauge step installed and smoothed...

the PC box will be done tomorrow...

You say step, meaning you plan to use that as a place to step off of when getting into the back right? If so, what are you planning on coating it with to prevent slippage?

step is probably not the best term to use.. mainly a hardpoint for a knee/foot when climbing from front to back.... and this isn't gonna happen very often, really only when camping probably....... when it's raining.... and cold..... :wink1:

that being the case, I wont initially put anything non-skid on it for now.. the center section will be done black to maintain the look of the panels, I could herc that if I find a need...

really sucks not having parts for mockup... be nice to just go over and take the PC, LCD whatever off the shelf and see what needs to be done.. not guessing based on measurements, etc... :(
