:haha::haha::haha:

haha, I knew someone was gonna bust my nuts....

eh, believe me, I was just kinda farting around.... I had the fenders stripped already... just spent a couple hrs on it.... probably do a little each day I have off... definitely picking and choosing what I do tho, trying to take it very easy on that hand... so certain jobs/tools I'm not doing for now...

when I'm feeling up to it, I still need to get the fenders and rad support out back for a little blasting before I put any primer to em...

Paul are you going to put the lip back in the fender where you cut out? If so, what do you think about taking out the angled lip up to the horizontal lip and bringing it down from there. Then there would only be one angle to the angled lip from the horizontal lip. Just a thought.

yup, it'll have the factory lip back on it... thats why I put

the beginning of the fender sectioning.....
this was just the intial hack to get the fender in position.... i'll do it like I did the back one.. it'll have that 1" wide, flat section back in it all the way around, with the little body line.... in addition to the 90 degree, inner lip...

That's a pretty neat wrist brace! How will it hold up to flying sparks and such? It may need some custom dying or paint to go with the truck!!

Take it easy and have fun with it. Glad to see you back to it, but again, take it EASY!!

Please put detailed pictures on this, I need to do some of the same on my 'Burb, thanks........

PLEASE don't push yourself into anything that you can't handle yet, GET WELL FIRST. You will be kicking yourself if you hurt yourself more and have to wait longer to do anything you love.

Good luck with your health first and your rig next.:xmas:

oh, my god dude, she was freakin smoking... :haha: little latin girl about 35.. looked like Selma Hayek...:bow::bow:

thanks for the concern guys!:D

Since she was mentioned.

BTW - she HAS had a baby! Sheesh.

OK, now back to the tech.

Later,
Buddy

I will try to remember and do as much documentation on this mod as I can...

one thing I realized when I marked that out was that I'm not going to be able to do a "standard" sectioning job.. meaning, just pulling a section out of the middle and moving the lip over... too much angle, meaning length to the lip now.. so I will more than likely be fabbing up a new lip piece to weld in there....

oh, and thanks Buddy! :haha:

glad its not so bad as you thought.i just watched a thing on sk8topia.that place looks killer.as does that work you are doin and supposed to be takin it easy.haha.im the same way though.its the sk8er in me.i broke my ankle and had sergery.and was walkin on it in a week.i cant stand feeling like an invalid.sp?

new bodyline hammered & dollied in... kind of hard to see..... slider chopped too...

if anyone needs tips on dolly techniques, etc, I'll try to explain it as best as I can on the introweb.... :o

Sweet, nothing beats the cool factor of pounding some metal to make your own stuff.

The build is coming along great! Good luck on getting better, don't go too nuts on the panel beating, I know it's not the easiest on the hands and wrists!

ok, I'll see about taking some tool photos, etc. and explain how I went about it... tonight tho.... :o

ok, let's see if I can explain some of this......

I'll make another post after this explaining some hammer/dolly techniques...:deal:

as usual, nothing is ever easy... :wink1: this is just the way it worked out.. it's pretty involved... so my apologies to anyone looking for an "easy" way to do this...... but you guys know, my stuff is rarely "easy" :doah::haha:

this first pic kinda shows what the bottom of the fender looks like chopped... that lower, interior panel actually had a "double panel" down at the bottom held in by a couple spotwelds.... it's gone now....

you can also see my sharpie line for the bodyline on the sheetmetal...

I had decided to make the flat, bottom mount for the fender out of the same 12 gauge I used on the floor... So today I decided to make the new lip out of 12 too, to add some beef because of the wheelwell mounting to it...

here's the piece before tacking in... this is just a rough shape, I trimmed it done once it was tacked in place..

fendersection009.jpg

here you can see it tacked in... I definitely cut too much inner fender, but it's ok... worked out fine in the end, and i'll make the appropriate adjustments on the other side...

fendersection010.jpg

here you can see the flat "foot" for mounting to the slider....

fendersection013.jpg

fendersection012.jpg

fendersection011.jpg

fendersection017.jpg

fendersection018.jpg

the missing inner structure...

fendersection020.jpg

here you can see the modified inner piece to go back in... i'll put this back in tomorrow... now that i have one done, i'll just cut it to these dimensions, and not have to scab a piece back in on the other side...

fendersection021.jpg

fendersection022.jpg

here's how it looks right now.... need to do the 2 lower well mounting nuts in the lip... basically i just need to bend the well back a couple inches, clamp it, drill holes, then weld nuts inside that lip...

fendersection025.jpg

and that inner part of the lip still needs to be trimmed in, and shaped about 3/8", but I need to wait till I put that inner piece in to do that tomorrow...

fendersection024.jpg

I realized when doing this that everyones is gonna be slightly different probably... at least different than mine because I had to notch for the custom cab support, where noone else will have that.. plus, going further back, or forward, will change it too...

but hopefully this might help someone going to do something similar...

continued tomorrow..... :D

Nice work Ryoken...definitely quality fabrication. While not easy, it does help to see how you went about it. Thanks for the explanation. I look forward to seeing what's next.

Indeed! Nice work! I second skidog1us in saying that even if everyone needs to do it just a bit different the overall techniques are applicable and I appreciate your sharing with us.

Cheers,
Rufus
