87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

Got a question for you ryoken: I am wanting to run a few relays and circuit breakers inside my cab. What can I do to get power from the batt to inside? Should I use a distribution block of sorts or any other ideas?

on a stock set up, I'd bring the power in from the junction block on the firewall by the brake booster.. it's bad practice to be hooking multiple hots to batteries... it can be done correctly, but rarely is... you'll want circuit protection for that line, that will cover the max load that system will see...

then you can just bring that in to a distribution block or post.... then make sure the individual circuits are protected from that point on, ala breakers or fuses.....

cool thanks!

anytime.... PM me if need be...

one thing I should clarify which I didn't make clear.. just my note of sarcasm instead... :o if you can do it correctly, meaning a proper connection at the bat, you're better off running right from the battery....

the reason i stated it that way was because I see nothing all day long but boat owners adding circuits directly to the battery... and it definitely compounds issues with corrosion at your terminals, at the least.... if you can do it right, your better off going that route than subjecting the fusable link to any undo stress...

and Ben...... dammit, if you where within 100 miles, I'd come finish your truck for ya.... :wink1:

my favorite slag story was when I was sitting cross legged under my cage while welding and had a little bit of slag fall onto my crotch. It burned through the pants and bounced around on the nut sack a few times... Loved it!
