87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

thats a good way to look at it....I've been getting some ot myself, and it comes at a good time...my Burb has a bearing knocking, and I just bought at 99-2500....I got to get a DD in decent running shape.....I've let stuff go to long.

Oh and congrats on 2500 replies to your thread....:waytogo::cool::D:saweet::woot:

Now get back to work...:grind::weld::hack:

Cool stuff Paul.

the hinges worked out great (excuse the stupid long mockup screws :haha:)..... here's where the hinge detent puts the lid when open, perfect...

I'll detail the psycho mounting bracketry below in a couple days.... now when I get primer next week, this piece'll be ready.... :woot:

wow man.in my best mr burns voice i can muster, "excellent".whats up with those extra long screws on the hinges? haha.just cause you said dont worry about it i had to be the smartass.looks great though.

I am waiting on this one!

actually, I'm lying, now that the e-brake cable is being mounted to the bottom of the PC shelf, it's not that nutty.... the shifters where simple... the e-brake lever is basically just the mounting of the handle... of course i couldn't use the little brackets supplied by Lokar, so it's some pretty intricate glass work... and WAY overbuilt, but gets the job done nicely.. i'll take pics tonight...

gonna call Jesse friday for my output flanges, so hopefully by the following weekend, I can truly have the e-brake mocked up... I'm putting the motor back in tonight for final mockup... I really wanna order my headers so i can get them fitted up too... hopefully I can get the drivetrain all up and in position by next week, so I can get going on the x-member and bellypan... :grind::weld::saweet:

and thanks for the compliments guys...

EVERYTHING is just buttloads of work, when EVERYTHING is custom... :doah:

I'm happy tho, I think the layout turned out sweet and should be super-functional and fun to drive... gonna order 1 cupholder today for in front of the Art Carr... can't put 1 in front of the twinstick.... :doah::haha:

So I need to ask because I think about it with my rig. When you're all done and someone comes up with a blank check and says "What figure will it take to sell this truck too me?" What would you think? $$

It might not ever be done with changes, modifications, tweaks, yada yada yada.....I dont think anyones build ever reaches 100% done theres always the thought of "what if?????":haha:
I love that E brake set up nice work!

it's certainly not being built to be sold, I'm building it the way I want, to have the rest of my life...... guys can't get 15 g's for sick Blazers, certainly not a good "investment" vehicle...

that being said...... I'm a poor focker, I can't say what I would do if some kook wanted it that bad.... it'd have to be high 5 figure, if not 100 g's... which for a Blazer is just stupid... if some yahoo offered me 100 grand, I'd have to consider it, just cuz of my financial situation...

i throw alot of coin at the truck, in my odd way... when it's "done" I'll probably have over 40 g's cash into it.. but i think you guys know my rig is certainly WAY more of a testament to custom fab, then throwing a 20 g crate motor at it, Boyce axles, etc..

my windshield sticker will read.....

BUILT, NOT BOUGHT!!!

I think I've earned the right to run that, more than most... :D

One day when I win the lottery ill have you build me one and then I can run the sticker "Bought Built by Ryoken" :D

:D

ok, snapped a few structural pics... I've still got a fair amount of smoothing, shaping, etc to do before it gets primed...

and once again forgive the hardware.... :o

here's the e-brake.... the 2 holes without bolts are the 2 that actually mount the e-brake... got some fancy fasteners coming from Mcmaster... the #8's coming thru the bottom are the boot/trim mount spots...

mockup006.jpg

the lam-sandwich that the 2 mounting bolts run thru...

mockup007.jpg

mockup008.jpg

here's the AC mounting... the side mount walls are 3/8" thick...

mockup009.jpg

mockup010.jpg

and the twinstick is just flushmounted with a boot-sized hole.... still need to clearance the compartment "flange" so the shifter sits flush...

mockup011.jpg

not pretty, but functional.......

build notes...

this weekends project will be....... fiberglass diverter for heat/defog and mounting of LCD panel...

might also be picking up a surprise part on friday too... :p:

Paul it looks like crap! Why don't you go ahead, pull the cage, the console, send the 205 and everything to my house, I will dispose of it properly. :haha: Keep it up!

Sorry for the late reply but I wondered if it was six figures. I think thats the point I would start to consider with mine and it isn't anywhere near the strength and quality you have here. It's just awesome and I'm jealous:bow:

thanks for the props boys, it's my verification that I'm not insane...:wink1::o

on to the next nightmare......:saweet::doah:

so i go down to start mocking up the heat diverter...... i knew it was tight, but sheesh, this ain't gonna be fun... first of all, here's the clearance i'm working with....

mockup014.jpg

i think it's about 5" to the back of the composite LCD panel from the 2 output flanges on the box...

greaaaaaaaaaat.... ok, better go look how deep dimensionally the LCD's i'm looking at are.... and maybe buy it for mockup BEFORE I build the diverter...

ok, 1 1/2" deep.. wow, good... hey, the 10.2's are the same depth as 8" diag.. fock it, lets see if the big one fits...

mockup016.jpg

now, keep in mind thats the outside dimensions, the screen will be a little smaller... 10.2" diagnal.. it will retain it's narrow border around the outside of the screen... I'm not gonna canabilize the screen from the case...

gonna be freakin tight if i go that route... not sure how i'll get 4 countersunks in the perimeter composite...

but........ i think i'm gonna go for it..... :haha:

*revised purchase priority* :haha:

output flanges
LCD
primer & paint
headers

so, the diverter will be on hold till i get the LCD.... :doah: i could VERY easily just run both ducts right up thru the center dash speaker hole/area.. and just have 1 sick defog..... it would be SUPER simple.. a small, simple box ABOVE the whole LCD area..

but i'll see what it looks like with the LCD mocked in.... i'd really like to have floor heat too... hmmmm, maybe i can actually rebuild the sheetmetal on the summit heater.....

I have been watching your build for a while now, and all I can say is you do amazing work. Everything looks great, i would not change anything.

I have formulated a plan...... :screwy: :wink1:

if you ever wondered what the Summit heater looked like disassembled, here ya go... :haha:

mockup017.jpg

whats the plan with rebuilding the sheet metal on it? i have been trying to figure out a good way to have floor heat and defrost as well. ive got the same heater. only difference is I want to get Kerts dash so that could change something :D
