tho I am liking the nato plug alot more now at $200 or less with cables, as opposed to 350ish.... waterproofing is important on this one and the nato plug looks excellent for that...

Ryoken... just went through all 379 pages of your build...( took 3 hours ) First time replier.... that is one sharp ars rig... i have the military K5, as well that im building up and already have the NATO slave plug... ( it came with it ) it works great, and you are correct as it being more weather resistant than other type of connectors... another thing you should try and look for maybe would be a 12v impact, and use the other end of that slave cable you cut to put clamps on... that way you can have an impact to assist in changing a tire and or beadlock on the trail... Im still running the 24v setup and have a 24v military impact, which works great.. thats just my 2 cents.... you got awesome skills bro... cant wait to see it finished...

I'm actually pretty well set on the impact, tool aspect..... being a marine mechanic, cordless stuff has always been a big part of my job... I've been running around with a Snappie 18v in my vehicle for yrs now... right now it's in the back of this

had a flat a month ago, you shoulda seen the look on this dudes face watching me when i broke out a floorjack and the cordless impact... Nascar pit crews got nothing on me!


throw in the substantial air system I'm gonna run on the rig for air tools, York with a 12 gal tank, and I could do "on trail resto's"..... paint job included!

the truck is really, really being built for that... hardcore service capability.. I'm sure I'll not only be using the service aspects on the trail, but around my marina too...

good thing about using the truck for work is you can use it as a tax writeoff..multipurpose everything rig that also works at the job site..is this thing gona be rodeworthy by summer?mines coming out of the garage next month.we gota figure out somewhere to go wheelin.its been so long since i really had mine out anywhere.almost 6 years now.at least its starting to look like a truck again.parts are really flyin onto your ride.

I'd be curious if I could claim it as a "tool" at some point... that'd certainly help with tax returns... any yr I've claimed 3 to 5 g's in tools, i got excellent returns..

i do, and i don't.... it has some things that have really helped keep weight down, soft top, glass hood, etc, but any rig with 200+ ft of 2" DOM is gonna be a bit heavy probably...


I'll weigh it at some point.. fully loaded with 2 people and tools/gear, I'm betting it'll be pushing 4 tons...

Here is a set for $300 that comes with 30' cables. I have this style on my K30. They work well. I got them off of a junked out service truck for a few bucks. I have had them under water with no problems. They have black rubber caps that go over the receptacles when not in use. If you look around you should be able to find cheaper ones. I was looking for some to put on my other vehicles awhile back and found some good ones for just over $100.
