I've decided that I'm gonna try just etching the plexi with my new blast cabinet first, before delving into hand-dremel engraving..

I can easily make that perfect and neat with stencils... if it's not bright enough, I can always go in and dremel it after...

I've decided to coat the interior in poly resin and paint the outside in the floor gray...

oh, I forgot, after the resin on the interior, white gelcoat..

Very cool! Yea probably best to get some white in there. Blast cabinets need all the help they can get in the light department!

yeah, and the other cool thing is I can easily add another bulb fixture down at the door end if I want...

it came with the box switched unit to the left, box mounts outside, fixture sticks thru wood.. but you could add just the fixture to the right for $8 down the road..

I think the gel is a good choice, that sh*t's rock hard...

just remembered I lost my jigsaw to Sandy...

oh, and, my kingdom for a table saw right now! we used to have a nice one at Dinkley...

that gray thing is the trapdoor for changing the abrasive..

well, back to the dash till I pick up some clean 2 x 4's to rip down into 2" x 2"s to build the frame for the expanded steel to sit on, and that hopper to mount to the underside of...


just like building tackle centers on the boats!

btw, I'm using thickened poly resin as a glue and countersinking SS screws for assembly/fastening...


and oh, TON's of leftovers in 2 sheets, even doing 48" wide... I was hoping there would be enough to do a full size door on the side, basically the same size as it is... I could do 3... I could replace/recut basically any panels except the back...


alright, back down for some hammer and dolley work for the rest of the day....

Only complaint so far is that it can only cut up to a 45 stock. Will require some shimming to go bigger.

Also it is too short for my material support stands. I have it sitting on cinderblocks until I can make a stand.

I am going to order a another blade sense I have heard the stockers are junk. Most people seem to think the starrett blades are some of the better ones. Spent quite a while trying to understand what blade I needed. Since I am predominately going to be cutting tubing, but do not want to limit myself in the future. I am thinking a 10-14 TPI blade. Does that make sense?

sweet, thanks.... I'm gonna pm ya when I decide to pop on it and see how it's been cutting, coolant system, etc..

I don't know blades, but I would guess you can be pretty aggressive with the tooth count cutting mild steel.... tooling steels, etc, maybe a finer count I'd guess...





so here's how the plexi spot worked out... it wont go quite as far to the right, I have to scab a 2" patch in back to that blue line...

during the week I'm gonna work on getting the back lip done with the round rod, and start on the plexi frame...

if you guys think this idea is off the wall, you should have seen the first idea..

same thing, slogan to the right, but the first 8 to 10"s on the left was going to be a homemade spectrum analyzer with rows of multicolor leds, drilled and facemounted in columns...

something like this, but in the typical green, orange and red color format..

but I'm far too stoopid for that controller circuitry...

No matter how high tech the system is...the average Joe ends up with this EQ:

The "smiley face". Not enough bass...oops...now not enough treble...a lot of presets are even the smiley face in disguise...
back in the days of power amps and turntables and receivers...how many smiley faces did you see at parties?

I still think it'd be a good idea to cover the inside w/ some bedliner. That stuff is resilient. It's good insurance in case you accidentally blast the side of the box. How abrasive resistant is the resin?

thanks on the saw.. eh, just me wanting the "EASY" button..

woulda been nice to have one, but I managed with the circ easy enough..

gelcoat is pretty damn resistant to blasting, not impervious, but far superior to any epoxy or urethane coating.... sandblasting bottom paint off boats is super common, and it takes excessive effort to get the BIG blasters to cut thru gelcoat..

keep in mind, it needs to be white, and I pay like $25 for a gal of white gel... and if it starts to show sign of wear down the road, I can always overcoat it easy enough...

I was working on this all weekend. 6 inch lift on 34s. It was way harder to lift than my solid leaf blazer.

my boss gave me these crazy heavy speakers for Ryoken's Lab™ ... I call em the "Ryoken 88's"!!!! they're like 88 mothafockin lb's.. 37" tall...

now, I just gotta dig up an amp that'll drive em decent.. that puny all in one barely gets em to light off...


they're supposed to be some high quality ones from a hearing testing facility... haven't pulled the grills, but it looks like they are single 15's each... eh, I got a pair of bookshelves I'll run for highs..

I'll see how they lay out Geezer bass lines...



oh, FTR... all is being set up to pound the K5 after June 7... only focus for july and most of aug...
