'87 k5 build thread

i ended up beating on the arm itself untill the wedges kinda worked themselves loose, them grabbed em with a pair of channel locks and pulled them the rest of the way out. as far as the tires.. i love em too. i think they just make the whole truck :saweet:

For the body lift i would go threw and unbolt everything then i just took a jack and a 4x4 with a 2x6 attached to it to make a T and then i went around the truck jacking a section up at a time. thats how i did it when i replaced my body mounts, i didnt add a body lift cause i dont like body roll.

truck looks sick, something about a wide stance and boggers just looks mean as hell. I feel ya on the steering arm, took some pretty hefty swings to get mine off. Not trying to flame or anything just looking out for safety, but I would never recommed concrete blocks for supporting a vehicle but if you have to and I understand atleast flip them so they are being loaded the way they were designed to be.:waytogo:

yep i agree :D

but im going to the skinnys on my rig now :(

yeah, i know about the blocks, but its all i had. i kept a jack under it tho just incase..:D

Acctually I used to set and install mobile homes. With that said you can use concrete blocks to jack/support any vehicle out there (even a Tank). (if they are place properly and used properly) Jack stands are just more convient for most people!

so im ready to start my body lift since everything else is done. im alittle confused about it.. smoeone told me that you have to drop the gas tank to get to the rear-most mounts. is that true? do you have to remove anything to get to any of the mounts?

I dont recall having to drop the tank (it was 3 years ago when i did mine) but i did have the tank out at one point but i pulled that to install the shackle flip kit. it is very simple to drop the tank though, i did it by myself in bout 20-30 min. helps if there is not much fuel in the tank. as far as the rest of the mounts you shouldnt have to remove anything. Well your gona wana remove the bottom part of the fan shroud.

looks good! i would ditch those 1/2 ton rears though (are your rears open, if so they should hold up for quite a while. if there locked your gona have problems), mine have held up so far with the boggers but they wont last long. im gona switch mine over to 3/4 ton rears this winter. i would toss those auto hubs in the trash. they break way to easy.

anyone know what make roof rack is on there? been looking and haven't found anything I like, until I saw this.
