Absolutely a cross over car, subtle improvements but nothing truely hidden. If you make those flares make sure you do it as molds. I'd love a set for my sons El Camino I'm working on.

Actually, I won't touch this for awhile. I will look for parts and probably buy some things. I haven't mentioned that my trip to the yard last Saturday was to look at a 6.0
Complete 6.0 with full harness, full accessories and 4L80E.
So I'll pick that up. But I don't plan on moving on this for awhile.
I am planning on getting back to building the 79 this winter as I have the whole power train built, it just need to be set in place. So money won't be much of an issue there as that just more of a time time. And independently of that I'll allow 496 funds to happen. I fully plan to have the 79 on the road before any real money get tossed into this car. But I'll be on the lookout for things like a builder frame and such as I roam the internet, back roads, and swap meets/car shows.

Basically the plan will be hood, bumpers, fender flares and paint.
6.0, twins, overdrive and a rear end.
A fully built Frame and handling suspension.

But this thread really is just to get build input. So it's all good.

Have you seen this chassis...(might give you some ideas)

I am slightly annoyed by this. Lol. because they beat me to it. This pretty much exactly what I had in mind... a few things I will do differently but this is on point. I'll change a few things on the frame itself. But this is pretty much what it looks like in my head.

Or maybe by then these guys will offer a bolt in chassis for the g-body...you just need sell a couple other vehicles to buy the frame, ha ha....

14 grand for a frame, I would have sell the 76, the 79 and the cutlass or monte carlo... and still have to come up with 4 grand!!

Woah that's cheap! I think I read somewhere cx racing is actually decent stuff.. do it!

I think I'll definitely do the flares. This is a kind of project i have been wanting to do for sometime to push my skills.
I most likely do it with some fiberglass, and I don't really know what else is out there. This possibly could be some sort of a vacuum forming a project as well.
Alot of different techniques out there and different forms of media/ material to use. Like I said something I haven't done to push my skills to the next level.
I have plenty of experience with fiberglass from my snowmobiling days. As hoods are fiberglass. And I did crash a time or two.

So the guy at the junkyard told me to name a price for that caddy drivetrain....
Anyone have any idea what they are worth? I am still entertaining this idea...

That 6cyl one? Are those iron or aluminum blocks. If it's iron it's not any lighter than an aluminum ls..

No you can't... I think the logic is like changing the rules of a football game in the middle of the 2nd quarter.

@CK5, is there a reason that we can't either add a second poll or replace the original poll with a different one? I understand why you might not want to change the rules after voting starts, but methinks it would be fine to have an entirely separate poll running. Otherwise we're stuck starting a whole new thread to get a new poll. :doah:

I have no idea why we can't do that, I just asked the authors of the software your question so I'll let you know what they say.

Only one poll per post, no explanation as to why.
