'88 K5 - Running Down A Dream

Ground up restoration of my '88 K5. The plan is to go through every inch of the truck and fix or replace pretty much everything that needs it. This will also be a full vert conversion and I plan to make the vehicle look more like a 73-75 than 88.
That rotor looks 180 out, unless the plug wire goes to #1 and not #6.
Interesting. That's what I thought but I thought maybe I was misinterpreting the rotor button. So then I wonder if the previous owner installed the cam incorrectly? The truck ran so that's the weird part about the whole thing. I did find a YouTube video that I watched where a guy talked about setting the motor at 12 and 12 for aftermarket cams. I've also read where people got confused installing a cam and did it that way.

Sure looks that way to me. If it was running prior to pulling the front cover I'd bet the wires are set up 180 out on the cap.
I bet you're right. I'll check the firing order in the morning. Here's another fun one, unless we measured wrong at the parts store, the chain matches one from a heavy duty rig over 8500lbs GVW. Words cannot express how much I wish I had a stout crate motor to put in there. This thing is a true can of worms and I want to close it bad.

As long as it points to the wire going to #1, that’s all that matters.
True. But the ocd side of me always indexes the rotor with it pointing to the #1 cylinder. Or opposite of his pic. It helps with the plug wire routing for sure.

That's just me though. If it runs ok that way it's not hyper critical to change it.

I set it there too. I am just saying it being set elsewhere will not cause it to run poorly, or even different.

I point it wherever it lands when it gets stabbed. But I’m lazy.

I’d say your friend could use a 6 pack and a good ribbing.

In all seriousness, not certain there’s a great way to go about this. Maybe put a jack under the pan to keep pressure while you undo the bolts?

Can I just not put it back on there lol. I ran about 6 series of torquing with an inch pound reader. I feel like I did a pretty good job putting it on there I hate to undo my work.
