'89 Blazer LS swapped DD/Adventure Rig

On the cruise connector I was holding the column end... no clue where the truck end is hiding... I do know it was plugged into another connector and not into a box.

As for the other connector I have no effing clue lol

Ok. Your wires are just different than mine. :dunno:

Sounds like it's all coming together, though. :thumb:

Can anyone tell me fasho if I will need to swap my brake lines front to back on the master cylinder?

Since I am going from a vacuum master to a hydroboost master, I have read I may need to. [emoji52]

Wait...what? How do front and rear get reversed? Are the fittings on the MC reversed?

I can go check my hydro trucks and tell you which coupling goes to which axle.

In my 89 hydroboost the fronts are at the back of the reservoir.

My '83, '84, and '86, with cast iron master cylinders, are the opposite. Picture from the CUCV:

Looks like I have some fluid flushing to do before I get it on the road... :doah:

I was thinking my buddy went from an aluminum master cylinder to a cast iron hydroboost in his 90 K5 and he had to swap them. I also think he was able to make the lines work without doing new ones.

I do know that the 89 blazer lines will not fit the 89 v3500 cast iron master. Correct size, wrong thread pitch.

I plan on reflaring the lines with the correct fittings, I was just need to figure out if I'll need to reverse them..

its here!

Transmission will be here tomorrow! thank the lord....

Tonight I will get all the loose ends tied up, my main concern is getting the clutch, brakes, and hydroboost bled out. As well as cutting the hole in the trans tunnel.

Will report later with some updates!

On your master question just go buy the reservoir. The larger side is the front brakes. Just go with what ever port is under it for the front line.

That's exactly what I did.

I found that since I used an '89 1 ton master that the lines are in the same position as the (89) blazer. If you get an earlier master you will have to swap the lines to be correct.

Btw the fitting size and thread WAS correct after all so I didn't have to do any adapting.

That was discussed at some point in this thread was it not? Either way, you have a 241 right? Any 32 spline input shaft should swap right in a believe. Anything 89+ with a 32 spline shaft should work in yours. Like the easy to find 88-98 chevy trucks.

I must have been drinking if someone mentioned it earlier.

I definitely would've had everything together by now if I had realized this earlier...

In this post.

I recently installed a NV3500 from a '07 into my sons 73 K-10

it has an old worn out TBI 350, but the trans has survived a year of a 16 year old driving it, so Id say they are pretty strong,

it already had a 4 speed, so we converted the pedals to hydro,
took all day, but we could not find a hydro pedal assembly anywhere for under $500

lemme dig around and see if I can find what parts exactly we used,
I think it was a 87-91 squarebody mastercylinder and honda reservoir,
bought the hose for a 87, and took that and the slave cylinder to a shop that makes hoses, the input fitting for the slave cylinder is steel, but the GM quick disconnect fitting is some bizarre size that they couldnt work with, they cut it off and tigged a fitting on that they could make a flex hose fit onto.
I can get some pics later.

we mounted the master on threaded rod and used that to adjust the distance for the pedal, kinda hill-billy but it worked and we just couldnt think of any other way to do it.

probably the best way is to use a threaded rod end from McMaster Carr

we we removed the pedal assembly we discovered that the top of the clutch pedal where it swings, was badly worn, and that if you take a brake pedal from an automatic, and saw off the foot pad, and flip the pedal over, it perfectly fits in the clutch side, and the clutch pedal is in 2 parts anyway, so you can unbolt the pedal and bolt it to the flipped over automatic brake pedal. If you put a little thought into this procedure you can make a clutch pedal with adjustable height, with an adjustment screw.

you will absolutely love the NV-3500 5 speed,
it bolts right up to almost any T-case with the 6 bolt round pattern and 32 spline.

it was very hard to bleed, we would up using a hand vacuum pump to bleed it, using it on the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder and vaccing on the hose from the master cylinder, which actually did the most good, pull a good vacuum on the hose from the master and let it sit and you can watch the bubbles come out the top

I also have the Dodge NV-3550 version in my 75 Bronco

reading this thread because were pondering a engine swap, either a LS or a Isuzu box truck diesel.
so we will probably have some LS swap questions coming soon.

I have a non hydro pedal assembly I can part with if you cant find one locally.

I've got a 32 spline input and rebuild kit otw, found the shaft for $65. New! Thats definitely worth not having to go pull one in the junk yard!

On another note.

The nv3500 shift tower does not line up with the factory indentation in the trans tunnel. I can make it work, but I will no longer be able to use the factory tcase shifter bezel.

The two are so close together that I will almost certainly have to use the same bezel for both shifters and use two boots. Not entirely sure how I'm going to do so yet.

Anybody out there making custom bezels/boots?

Couldn't find them on the website, I know they come with the twin stick kits etc. I may just have to give them a call.

I also like the look of a couple lokar leather boots.. hmm

Some of us Ass-u-me'd you knew all the GM manual tranny's were 32 spline. :doah:
