3 Link front, leafs in the rear, 2.5" ADS Racing Shocks!
Your truck turned out great Jesse!
It’s fun watching it haul ass on the dunes!
My ride in Adams truck let me feel what it’s like....and it’s incredible!
Good luck this week with the chemo. If I can help somehow, please give me a shout. Until then you got my thoughts and prayers.

Well my cancer treatment plan has changed. I have a double hit of lymphoma so I’ll need to be hospitalized for 6 days every 21 days. Anyways I’m looking to ls swap the blazer over the winter, so I figure I’ll keep my mind busy and redo an ls harness in the hospital.

So I can pick up 5.3’s for 600 or 6.0’s for 900-1k. Note that either motor is going to be an improvement over my 190hp tbi motor. So which motor should I get? I plan on just resealing and stabbing in. No cam or performance upgrade until later on.

Either way you’ll be happy, but you’ll be happier with the 6.0. And any cam upgrade to the 5.3 makes just as much difference if not more to the 6.0.
Take the hit once and be happy every time you turn the key.

For running in the sand, I would go for more power, get a 6.0. It's not like you are trying to save some fuel while blasting around.

Just from a quick internet search, the 6.0 has about 80hp over the 5.3. For $300-$400 that's a pretty decent upgrade. I'd go 6.0 if you can swing it.
80hp seems a little far fetched if we are simply comparing GenIII truck engines, the 5.3 (LM7) to the 6.0 (LQ4) both of which are the 2 most common engines to find used and In fact they're only 15hp apart.

Leaning towards the 6.0 due to torque curves. Have s line on an lq4 harness eco, accessories with 127k on it. It has 40 psi of oil pressure at idle. If I can grab it next week I will.
Do it. Displacement helps. Sure they aren't far apart stock, but with later mods the gap widens due to that increase in displacement. Your application is one where keeping it wound up isn't a bad thing so a Gen III setup is ideal. Watching videos of Nate's Papa Smurf on the sand with the 4.8 at full boil proved that one for me.

That being said, I'd say I agree with @beags86 about going big block but that bulk of cast iron might have an impact on the trucks jumpy lifestyle. Money no object, an all-aluminum ZL1 would fit the bill but that's just nuts.
