89 k5 Trazer build "The Dirty Girl" *Tubed front/taper, full hydro steer*

Yep, I`ll be removing some rivets soon, maybe I`ll give that method a try...

Worked on the truck a little bit yesterday. I removed more rivets (yay!) and got the front mounts disassembeled. Total rivets removed to date: 38. If I have to remove another Rivet I will EXPLODE :angry1:

And I thought I would post pics of some of the other things that will find their way on my truck during this build.

First, DIY Razorback cover. Primed and ready for paint.

Second, DIY pinion guard. Painted and ready to go.

And I got some stuff on order that I should be getting next week

Cool, cool, cool! I'll be watching closely. I think I'll be doing this sometime this year, so I could use some learning.

Alright I got some parts today. B-52 brackets, 7.25" shackles and HD shackle mounts all from Kert at DIY.

Got home late so I figured I would bolt up the B-52s to see how they fit.

So tomarrow I will clean up the parts, prime and paint them so that hopefully this weekend I can get some stuff bolted up.

keep it up! i going to be cool soon to, once i make my build up thread :)

Be sure to mount the B-52 kit all the way forward with the spring on the furthest hole forward, at least when using 7.25" shackles. Ask me how I know.:D Looks great!! Keep it up.

Have you made a decision on wheels and tires yet? Im sure there are quite a few guys on here that would trade hubs and some cash for your SRWs. Just a thought.

WORK ON!!!!!!

I've actually ordered a set of 16" weld on beadlock rings from rufstuff specialties. I couldn't pass them up, with my $100 gift certificate I won awhile ago they only cost me $90!!

So later on I will get some black steelies, 16X10. Also I have decided that I am going to run 38.5X15R16 Boggers that I will groove for better sidehill traction.

Alright, last saturday I took my DIY parts to work, ground down the welds, scuffed them up and primed and painted them.

So today, Im going to ask my boss if I can borrow a heat lamp for the night and prime and paint the front section of my frame, so that I can start bolting the brackets up later this week.

Wow   !!

Great build!

Also, thanks for the awesome reference pics as well :D !
Hey no problem. There may be a slight change of plans with the build. Originally I was going to use a zero-rate to move the front axle forward another 1.5". But I have been reading about some problems with doing this, that would pretty much require me to go full-hydro steer.

Seeing as how I don't know jack about hydro and I've heard that it can be kinda hard to tune just right, Im either going to go with traditional crossover, with a rock tuff tierod from bulletproof steering.com or go with high steer.

I'm also debating about going with a LOMAX 205 twinsticked, rather than clocked and SYE'd np 241. What do you guys recommend?

Go with the lomax 205 doubled to a 203, I would buy the 241 if the price is right and I might be able to work something out on shipping. My dad drives tractor trailers and I'm pretty sure if he is within a 100 miles of you he might pick it up for me.

hmm, I'll keep that in mind, but im not ready for a doubler right now, not sure if I would ever go that route.(although I do have two 203s sitting here)

One of the reasons I was going to stick with the 241 was to keep the weight down, but I don't think I can pass up the brute strength of the lomax.

Any ways I was able to borrow the heatlamp from work so I got the frame horns primed and painted.

and here's another pic of the brackets and shackles painted and ready to go.

Looks good! I have the B52s and the frame eye shackle hangers installed too. Painted them hammer tone black... what color did you paint them, by the way? Looks like olive drab?

Truck's in the shop for crossover. I hope to get it out this weekend if they get the parts in. My frame needs to be welded at the box before they can do crossover. If I get it back, I'll try to borrow a camera and snap some pics.
