you guys think they will take a steering box thats been tapped as a core?
most stores won`t even look at it. I just stuck it in the box mine came in, then they just took it, didn`t even open it, and refunded my core....

same here. I put the cardboard box with the steering box in it on their counter. the guy put it in a pile on a pallet. guess it was heavy enough to pass the return inspection process.

Last year I had a starter go out on my k2500, and took the starter in to advance since I had the same starter under warranty . I gave them mine told them my phone number etc , and they kept insisting that it wasn't the starter I had bought there. Anyways I kept arguing with them over it saying I had swamped the truck , and painted it etc. Finally the manager came and asked what was up and said give him the starter , so they did.

Now I have so much crap on my warranty list at AZ I just go , and most stuff I have covered. Autozone never checks anything but some places seem to be getting gay about it.

they are about $130 at my parts store after a core return. they will take anything in return.
yea I wanted to give them one of my 4wd steering boxes ( i have like three lol) But my brother got it for me through the body shop he works at and didn't want napa to come back and complain that his boss was trying to rip them off.

A local truck/van customizing shop had a warehouse cleanup sale and I picked these up:

I got the 5" tach, shift light, 2" water temp gauge, and 2" oil pressure gauge for $90, they threw in the GMC emblems for free:D . I looked on summit, if I bought this stuff from them it would have cost $406.81 :eek1:

Busy weekend. I painted the axle shaft ends and installed them with new bolts. I removed the old 4wd steering gearbox. I primed and painted all the parts for the DIY4x backbone axle truss and razorback diff cover. And I installed the truss, guardsman, and diff cover

haha yea is was nice meeting you again. Thanks for gettin those axles outta my way. Now I have room for two more 1-tons lol. Next time we will go visit attitude performance

Some updates and changes

Alright, front axle is torn down. Yea I wasnt planning on doing it but here's why. So I got my polyperformance drive flanges in the mail last week.
2186902_332_full.jpg

These are for 35 spline stub shafts. When I bought my dana 60 the guy told me it had 35 spline stubs. Well I go to install the flanges and what do ya know? they are 30 spline stock shafts. Well the guy I bought the axle from is a friend of my brother's.

My brother called him up and he said he could've sworn it had 35 spline shafts, oh well. He called back later that day with a proposition for me. He said pull the shafts out and bring them to his shop tuesday after work. He has a pair of 35 spline chromoly shafts, brand new that he would install with new spicer hd u-joints for $50! He said he's had the shafts for awhile and he has too many projects going on and he will probably never use them.

So tomarrow my brother is going to stop by the shop and drop off the shafts.
Also got the rest of the frame painted around the steering box area, bought a new power steering hose and my ORD steering box brace and dropped pitman arm should arrive here tomarrow.

Another update. I was looking at my gas tank situation. With the axle truss installed and the rear axle moved back 5.5"s with the 64" springs I was worried about the axle hitting the tank. Well I had my brother and my friend bounce the rear of the truck as hard as they could. It hit the razorback cover, barely. I removed the factory skid plate and they bounced it again. No contact, woo hoo! So I think im going to try and modify the skid plate a little so that it won't make contact. I think I can leave my gas tank where it is for now.

That's one more thing I wont have to do from my to-do list. So I'm hoping by the end of next weekend I will have the front axle back together for the last time, hopefully  , and have the 2wd steering box installed as well as the dropped pitman arm and steering brace.

Looks awesome! How'd ya like the axle clamp fit? Don't forget to tighten them 3 bolts in the middle! Keep up the good work.

Need some fresh overall photos of your rig.:wink1:

Oh yea I did tighten those bolts after i took the pic. The axle clamps fit great. The only problem I had was you didnt send me the three bolts that go through the guardsman and truss bracket. I still had the bolts that came with the guardsman so they were too short. No big deal though, I Picked up some longer ones at the hardware store.

Yes I definitly need to get some better overall shots. Maybe after I get the axle shafts back and the tires are back on I will roll it to a scenic spot on the driveway  to snap pics

hmm im not sure. Possibly after the front axle/steering are completed. I might add a leaf to the rear pack and I wouldn't want that to screw anything up with the wraptor placement
