Next thing I need to do is get a washer & nut for the sector shaft, then I can install the dropped pitman arm I recieved last week. Also I'm going to work on mounting a power steering cooler and new power steering hoses.

No frame brace + 42's = frame death.

Alright, front axle is torn down. Yea I wasnt planning on doing it but here's why. So I got my polyperformance drive flanges in the mail last week.
2186902_332_full.jpg

These are for 35 spline stub shafts. When I bought my dana 60 the guy told me it had 35 spline stubs. Well I go to install the flanges and what do ya know? they are 30 spline stock shafts. Well the guy I bought the axle from is a friend of my brother's.

My brother called him up and he said he could've sworn it had 35 spline shafts, oh well. He called back later that day with a proposition for me. He said pull the shafts out and bring them to his shop tuesday after work. He has a pair of 35 spline chromoly shafts, brand new that he would install with new spicer hd u-joints for $50! He said he's had the shafts for awhile and he has too many projects going on and he will probably never use them.

So tomarrow my brother is going to stop by the shop and drop off the shafts.
Also got the rest of the frame painted around the steering box area, bought a new power steering hose and my ORD steering box brace and dropped pitman arm should arrive here tomarrow.

Another update. I was looking at my gas tank situation. With the axle truss installed and the rear axle moved back 5.5"s with the 64" springs I was worried about the axle hitting the tank. Well I had my brother and my friend bounce the rear of the truck as hard as they could. It hit the razorback cover, barely. I removed the factory skid plate and they bounced it again. No contact, woo hoo! So I think im going to try and modify the skid plate a little so that it won't make contact. I think I can leave my gas tank where it is for now.

That's one more thing I wont have to do from my to-do list. So I'm hoping by the end of next weekend I will have the front axle back together for the last time, hopefully  , and have the 2wd steering box installed as well as the dropped pitman arm and steering brace.

What are these and what do they Do?

drive flanges or drive slugs. They replace the lockout hubs. Being that they are a solid piece of chromoly steel, they are much stronger

Does that mean its full time 4x4?

no, just that you can't unlock your front hubs. with a selectable transfer case and an open or locked rear(not welded) it will not effect your turning on the street in 2wd. the axle shafts turn all the time with the tires but with no input from the driveshaft the outside tire can still over rotate in turns and not scrub.

i never really liked the drive flanges till i saw how simple they are...my buddy has them on his dynatrac 60 and just takes the flange out on the street..then when he goes trail riding he puts them in in like 5 mins....

Couldn't have said it better myself

Well I brought the tires over to my brother's house and sized one of them up.

Obviously the truck needs to be raised up and the tire needs to come forward about 2 inches

Thoes things are going to look great when they are all mounted up!
