89 k5 Trazer build "The Dirty Girl" *Tubed front/taper, full hydro steer*

Snow is coming! :deal:
Please, don't remind me :p:. My brother's trail rig isn't to the point that it's a roller so that stays in the garage for this winter.

I know progress is going to be slow during the winter, but I would like to be able to do something to it. I already plan on getting a np205 and then assembling a 203/205 doubler (I already have the 203) with 1410 outputs and triple cable shifters. I am probably going to go with Northwest Fabwork's doubler kit so I can mount the 203 upside-down and the 205 clocked flat.

And I might do some work on the interior, like mounting the new seats or building a dash to house the new gauges I bought.

So for you guys that work on your trucks outside, what do you use for shelter?

EDIT: Oh and this is my 2000th post :woot:

This passed winter when I installed my DIY4X flip, I did it in someone elses garage:p:

shelter...you dont need shelter....you better put on some thick azz coveralls and heated gloves and get to work. haha. J/K. when it gets below freezing down here in TN(yes is does get below freezing here) i just dress up real warm and only go outside for about an hour at a time then come in and set in front of the fire place for a bit and watch tv

Well some things have come up and there is a slight possibility that i may get the garage back. My brother is thinking about changing his trail rig platform. If all goes well he will get my 88 k-5 that im trying to sell and I will get the np205 i need along with some cash!

are you gonna trim the from of that fender..it would look better
Oh heck yea, im going to be cutting alot of the fender. The rear opening will swoop back and the front may be cut straight forward, like a comp cut you sometimes see on the rear of heeps.

u should check out y-unit's cutting diagrams, i think they are some of the best lookin cut fenders, and he made it simple for everyone to follow..

Hi....Jack

K5 Krawler, do you have a link to Y-Unit's thread with the diagrams, couldn't find it with a search.

Bye....Jack

wow that sure is a complex way of saying... cut a straight line and make it look clean!

Yeah, looking at it closely I'm pretty sure I couldn't measure all those points within the 1/8" he specifies while keeping everything parallel etc. I'd have trouble making cuts that precise on graph paper with scissors, much less a fender with a sawzall. :doah::haha::doah:

Good reference though.

invest in a cutoff wheel, it helps alot.

yeah dude! I want an update, even if its pics of what you have already done! I need to get my fire started for my 68!

good looking truck any progress? I know its winter and not everywhere is like sunny California:D
Well the truck is currently covered in about 6"s of snow . Actually I have been busy these past few weekends moving my aunt into a new house and stuff. Hopefully this weekend the truck will be in the garage and I can mount up the last 42. Also I am gonna pull out the np241.

I worked out a trade with my brother, he now has an 88 k5 that he's going to build into a trail rig and he gave me some cash and a np205. The np 205 is a round pattern, long 32-spline version. I can't use the long input for the doubler so that will need to be swapped for a short input. I will snap some pics this weekend.

After Christmas I'm going to order the stuff I need for a 203/205 doubler. I'm going with Northwest Fabwork's kit. The 203 will be mounted upside down and the 205 will be clocked flat. It's gonna have 1410 yokes and will probably be cable shifted.
