Doesn't look like you have much shackle angle in that muddin picture. How does it do as far as flexing?

Well a bunch of my friends want to ride along once the truck is done, so I figure i should add a seat for them. It's going to be another year till my brother's k-5 is done, so in the meantime...

Well that pic was back when I was running just the 4" shackle flip, stock shackles and stock rear springs. The rear didnt flex at all once all the weight was removed in the rear. I lifted a rear tire going down hills one to many times that weekend. So that's what started the whole suspension re-design. Having less total weight was nice though.

Thanks, the battery is currently on a shelving unit in the garage . But eventually It will be behind the cab

Thats exactly what I am worried about after the first rock goes through my back glass, I really didnt want to run fenders thats why I sold my 90% good bed. Should have thought it out more before running my mouth to my cousin about junk for sale.

Doesn't bother me, it looks good. On that one tower that you notched out, you may need to notch the other side a little. Mine was close to the steering shaft

It's been awhile since my last update, so here's the latest:
I decided now is the time to swap out my transmission (700R4). I went with a Th-350:

The entire case was de-burred and smoothed. It has redline clutches, kevlar bands, hardened sprag, 700R4 rear planetary, vacuum modulater and govenor have been eliminated. It also has a reverse pattern full manual valve body with compression braking in 1st and 2nd gears. I need to decide how much of a stall convertor I want and then order that, plus I will get a cast aluminum trans pan later on.

Next update, I rebuilt the np-203 low range box with new bearings and seals and swapped in the doubler intermediate shaft (shorter length and is 32-spline)

I also got my draglink back from the 4x4 shop, welded the inserts, painted and installed it. It works great, I don't think there will be any clearance issues.

Next on the to-do list is get some bearings for the np-205 and modify the shift rail for twin stick capability. I already have the case torn apart and the housing has been cleaned and painted. My brother took the flatbed frame to his work and primed it for me. We got some bushing kits from DIY4x that we will incorporate into the bed mounting

$1k, if it wasn't a friend of a friend that built the trans, it would have been closer $1500. Also I had a washer that was screwed up in the 203 range box. I talked to a buddy to see if he had one, he said yes, but it's got a 203 attached to it . So for the price of gas I got 3 np203s yesterday

Well I was going to use another summit bucket, like the two I have for inside the cab. They have a four-bolt mounting, I'll probably just make some simple brackets and bolt those to the flatbed somehow. That's on the backburner though, so it might be awhile till I get to it.

I got a bunch of parts from DIY4x this week and have some more on the way. Plus my buddy is coming home from college in two weeks, so I will have an extra set of hands to help. Perfect timing, by the time he gets here it will be time to start swapping the trans and install the doubler

pretty much all my plans for things that i dont already have on hand have been put to the backburner for me, prom is comin up and i forgot how expensive this stuff was... so i figure while i have this extra time to catch up ill do all the small things

Got some more stuff done these last few days. I replaced all the spring bolts with greaseable bolts and I used DIY4X zerk fitting protectors on all the spring bolts I thought might have a chance of hitting something. I also replaced the stock front U-bolt plates with UD spring plates from DIY4X.

Also got the shift rail modified by a friend with mill.

I have the np-205 pretty much done, just gotta get some 1410 yokes from high angle driveline and then finish up a few other odds and ends.

Started working on the snorkel again. Cut up a plate and got a piece of 4" exhaust tubing (90 degree bend)

And I received my DIY4X bumper center.

I had to make some modifications so my Warn xd9000i winch would fit

Here you can see I also had to trim some of the frame as well:

Fabbed up a little piece that will cover that notch I cut. This is from a piece of 2x2 square tube

Just gotta trim it a little more, then weld it on

I will also have to trim some of the radiator support. This pic was taken with the support wedged up so that i could fit the winch

Now I have decide what stall convertor I'm going with and order that so its here in time for memorial day weekend. I hope to swap the trans next weekend.

I highly doubt it will be running by memorial day, but the last time I went wheeling I routed my stock intake tube through the firewall.

Yea I did that in the parking lot before heading off to the trail . It wasn't too annoying. Mostly I heard the sound of the fuel pump running. When you stomp on the gas you can hear the air getting sucked in but I can live with it.

Should you be worried about an engine backfire through the carb with the intake in the cab?
How loud do you think it will be?

No carb, TBI . But I do plan on putting some sort of shield around the filter, to protect the computer and to protect the filter from accidently being kicked by passengers. As I said above, I can live with the increased noise.
