89 k5 Trazer build "The Dirty Girl" *Tubed front/taper, full hydro steer*

Pulled out the old 700R4, installed the new TH-350 and np203/np205. The np205 is clocked up 3 inches. I need to trim some of the floor so that the drivetrain can be raised up some more and to give us room for the shifter setup.

Some quick measurements:
lowest point of the t-cases; 26"s
front driveshaft; 36"s
rear driveshaft; 42"s

Looks good. What you gonnta do for crossmembers and skid? Looks like you're not quite a flat belly.
Thanks, I'm going to build a crossmember from scratch. I've got a ton of pics saved on my computer of other people's doubler crossmembers. So I have lots of ideas to work with. Next weekend we are going to try and finish modifying the front bumper so we can at least get it in primer so it doesn't rust :o

holy sheet bro. i haven't looked in awhile.:yikes: i wanna ride!!:D

nice truck! hope you dont mind me copying some of your ideas (ie. shock towers ect.). i was also planning on routing my intake through the firewall but i'm going to go through that cab ac intake (or whatever it is) hole. because i'm going to put a battery where yours punches through. i like the 4" pipe. i'll probably steal that on from out too.:D

No problem, I've already seen the shock mounts recreated twice now. I'm happy to see my ideas put to use :pimp:

The truck's looking good! :thumb:

I need lower t-case gears like its nobody's business :doah:

<<< Jealous
Thanks, what are you waiting for? :p:

Progress has slowed down, paying off some bills and I got another truck for a daily driver. I had the local waterjet cutter blast these out for me. They are 3/4" steel with a washer welded on each side and they bolt right where the rear bumper bracket used to be.

We also got some more work done on the snorkel/intake. I forgot to snap some pics though, I'll get some tomarrow.

It was also time for some garage cleanup plus my brother wanted to take his truck out and run it for awhile since its been sitting for a long time. Since he has to swap out the front tires to get it out of the garage, we figured why not switch tires between our trucks just to see what it looked like? Enjoy....

The claws are 46's :)

How much the jet cutter get for those?I might have to find some custom stuff for mine to get done. When I get time , which i have little to none of.

I've seen a lot of people run claws backwards and I've always wondered, why? Do they get better traction in rocks? Running them backwards surely can't make them clear mud better, can it?

I like overkill :) 1/4" may be enough but I'd rather overbuild it
Yea they are 46" claws. I tried to convince my brother to do a trade, but he wasn't interested :(

Sweet :)

For someone off the street I think they would have been $70 for both. For me, free :D. He's friends with my brother and real good friends with my brother's boss.

From what I have read, they do get better traction when run backwards. Running them forwards would reduce road noise though

Whats that axle with the red calipers/diff cover for? thats a nice truss.
That's my brother's axle. Its a dana70hd with detroit, 5.86 gear, a diy4x disc brake conversion, and he built the diff cover as well. It was going to go under that grey blazer that you see in the driveway but my brother has decided not to build a trail rig anymore. So he's going to be selling some of his parts. That axle would look really nice under your trazer :wink1:

Any progress?
:o Not really, I was outta state most of last week at a swap meet. I picked up a pair of rear jump seats from a Subaru Brat. I'm going to try and mount those in the back, later on. I'm heading over to the garage in the next few minutes and I hope to get some work done on the snorkel. I also need to order some silicone hose connectors from Jegs for the snorkel setup this week.
