89 k5 Trazer build "The Dirty Girl" *Tubed front/taper, full hydro steer*

did you cut the two main pieces of tubing or did you cut the top and weld it and the bottom of the tubing kinked and thats why you added the extra support pieces?

Originally we cut a "V" and then bent the tube. The 1st one ended up being too short so we said screw it and ended up cutting all the pieces. Thats why we decided to weld on those diamonds for added strength

If i remember right you origanally wanted to use 38.5 boggers, why did you choose to go with 42's instead?
Awhile ago I decided that 42 would be the biggest tire I wanted on this truck. So when it came time to buy tires I thought I better get the 42s cause I know if I dont I will be wishing that I did

looking good man...hope you get it done for your wheelin' trip so you can get some action shots :D
Thanks, I sure hope it will be ready. It's gonna be close.

So this weekend's progress, well lets say it didn't go quite as planned.

We got the the xmember primed and painted, drilled holes and mounted everything up

We pushed it outside and started it up. After sitting for two years it fired right up! I kept an eye on the gauges while my brother filled up the trans.

I tried to move the truck and realized the 205 was in neutral. So we shut it off and got the 205 in 2HI. Started it back up and as soon as I put it in reverse the brake pedal went to the floor. The brakeline running down the frame towards the rear broke

So needless to say we weren't able to test drive the truck this weekend. The seats are just about mounted, just have to drill some holes and buy some fasteners. Same thing with the center console. So we are hoping to have the brakeline fixed, seats mounted, and center console mounted by thursday so I can drop it off at Attitude Performance in Elk Grove IL to have the exhaust built, then it will be ready to hit the trails :woot:

Here's some pics my friend took right after the brakeline broke

How exciting...as long as I can remember your rig has been under the knife so it's cool to see you stick with it and get it done! Time to go wheelin'!

cool deal Ryan. Get it out there and wheel it!!!

Who the hell needs brakes to test drive? LOL! Looks good man! I wish I had 42's instead of 38.5's but my 38.5's don't fit now so I guess i'm screwed.

Thanks guys, got the seats bolted down and the center console bolted down. Tonight my brother and my friend are going to replace the brakeline and bleed the brakes while I'm at work. Things are moving along

I'm at work now, but I just got a call from my brother. He just drove the truck up and down the driveway!! He said everything seemed to be working correctly. He said the suspension is stupid soft and he thought it seemed to pull to the right when he accelerated (im guessing that has to do with the suspension). Anyway thats all he did cause we ran out of trans fluid and it still needs another quart or so and he pissed of several neighborhood dogs due to the fact that the truck has almost no exhaust :)

Check back sunday evening for the test drive video
