'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
Haha, it needs a bed donated TO it. It actually has a cool dump bed with hydraulics but the hinges are rusted out. If you try to dump the bed would fall off!

Yes!

Dana 60 for my truck????
It's for sale. :deal: Haven't checked but I think it might have 4.10's.

What trans Scott?
400+205. Nate went halves with me on the truck because he wants the trans and tcase.

It's an 85 we picked up in Breckenridge. As can be easily observed it's a rust bucket. Here's the floor boards;

As sad looking as the truck is, the owner has dumped money into the drive train. Motor & trans rebuilt about 20k miles ago, nice looking aluminum radiator, all tie rod ends recently replaced, and new windshield. I think the brakes had been done too, if not they certainly feel like it.

So this is what I pitched in for:

Yes the smoke machine is getting embarrassing. I feel like apologizing to everyone nearby when I start the truck.

Wow still has an air pump. Alternator is in the wrong spot also. Unless that is the second one and the other is not the air pump. If so you have the makings of a welder well the start of one.

Yes it has 2 alternators and 2 batteries. I'm assuming they did that for the electric pump that operates the hydraulics.

Some day I hope to put an AC compressor in there. For actual air conditioning, not compressed air.

I think I've decided next year I will not be lazy and actually swap the tube doors on. Trail running is too slow to push air thru the foot vents and the heat just sits down there on the floor boards. We end driving along with the doors hanging open to get air flow across the floor.

No that's the thing, I have them just haven't used them in 3 years.

Cubes...

You gonna do anything to that big azz engine before it gets injection?

I have the throttle body/injectors

Oh, interesting. So you have a BBC throttle body? After our CB discussion coming back from Moab I was planning to buy new injectors.

A lot of people bitch about the "peanut heads" on these motors are no good but the ratings are really where I wanted to be with the 350. 230HP, 380TQ. I like the idea of keeping it stock for simplicity. Plus the TBI will work better.

If I had all the money aluminum heads would be great with a complimentary cam. :D
