'89 R3500 Crew Cab 2wd to 4wd conversion & beyond

Started out with 2wd TBI350 with SM465 to current 4wd with 454, 700r4, NP241
Driveshaft in the way. Maybe with a one-piece shaft but then it would get all beat up on the trail.

I will have to measure tho because that is an intriguing idea. Would make connecting the filler hose easier and fuel lines shorter.

About your question on using rubber fuel injection line, barbed fittings are fine.
I used mostly hard line for my ls swap, but I used rubber when transferring from frame mounted to body mounted, and again from body to engine. Barbed adapters on each end and never had a problem.

I am planning to keep the hardline. Might probably do something different with the factory filter which might mean I need to eliminate the hardline between the filter and selector valve. I doubt the guts of a TBI filter will like 60psi fuel pressure. Plus it's in a bad spot anyway.

Boy as sooon as I start thinking FiTech that fuel command center looks so tempting.

Too bad most people have had shit luck with them. It seems like a genius solution but a lot of failures.

The other way to know is to if your heart skips a beat when they tell you how much it will cost. Then you start trying to figure out if you can shave a couple feet off somehow.

Yeah, running my flexible steel braded hose with nicer hose ends was by far not the cheapest way to do it, but it was really nice to route the lines wherever I wanted with just some zip ties. I can't tell you how nice it was doing the exhaust on mine last weekend and not even having to worry about fuel lines cause I ran them on the outside of the frame rail...plus changing fuel filters is just that much easier. I say rubber/flexible lines all the way. Even if its a little more money now, makes your life so much easier later on

many mixed reviews, check out cavemans build if you haven't. He's going to run one and he has two friends that run them without issue.

Yes, that's the biggest reason I've been ruling it out. Otherwise it's nice to not have to re-plumb the fuel system.

I would really prefer to run all new lines with AN fittings, but like you say; that adds up quick. I really like the looks of that Summit braided nylon stuff. The other downside is if I'm going to run the tank selector valve, I'm stuck with the barbed fittings that unit comes with.

Always good to hear more user feedback. I would really like to hear from someone that has used the fuel command center on the trail. I wonder how it performs off-camber and steep climbs/descents.

I believe there is one downside to the fuel command center in my case; max input pressure is 8psi and with the TBI pumps I'm probably running around 15psi. So I would have to regulate that pressure down.
